>> I'm always going on about finding alternative beachwear that doesn't consist of a string, triangles and err…sand going up the butt… but I think Rio Maddison (if that's not a memorable name, what is…?) from Northumbria has thrown up an extreme option… I especially had a strong mental image when I saw this ensemble complete with model wiggling round a studded inflated ring (it's attached to the bodysuit I think) in the manner of a five year old, paddling in one of those pathetic blow-up pools that you get in some people's gardens. Not that the mental image SHOULD include a five year old in studded gear like Maddison's collection but the point is that her collection definitely gave a very specific STUDDED pointY of view…
GFW 2009: Down at the Beach in Rio
Oh my God, that first studed creation is freaking fantastic!
Just saw you in your own GFW bubble of sorts! Imagine it is quite claustrophobic? Loved your jacket today btw! xo

hi susie – i had the sweet surprise of spotting you from a distance today as I was racing out the building, I was one of the models in the salford show – unfortunately i didnt have time to come and say hello but ill be sure to do so tomorrow if you are still around – id love to talk fashion and blogging with you!!
i doubt i would wear that to the beach but it’s definitely a great idea. i keep going back and forth with whether i like all the studding happening these days but this looks pretty fresh since it’s not just one little section.
the matching inflatable ring is so clever!
Fantastic creations but I’d rather wear them to go out instead of going to the beach with them.
I am addicted to studs and spikes at the moment. The swimsuit is kind of amazing but the ring reminds me of a studded fat-suit.
These are fantastic!
I think these will get you sand and other creatures up other parts of your body. Pretty to look at, though.
love the studs.
maybe a little hot on the beach though.
ill be seeing you wednesday susie!

The matching ring is the BEST part!

Totally sick! I’d use at is a ready-to-wear piece and not to the beach.
xo!

I love the style. Totally hot. I think it might hurt to sit down! I just bought a cute cover-up at shopgoldyn.com. http://www.shopgoldyn.com/product.details-pid-795-productname-ADAM
That studded swimsuit is genius – I want it really badly, it makes me laugh, it brings back memories, and yet its the slightest bit creepy in the most awesome way.
love the studs. love the poofiness. i may go to the gala show on wednesday.. hmm
xx-LJ from SOS!
All I can think of is a giant fat roll. Is that wrong?
They are interesting to look at though…
do these float ? they sure like it
lol didnt understand your last sentence until i scrolled down and saw the photo. haha bravo susie! love your wordplay
I know a New Zealand artist who did the same thing with a suit- he studded it and wore it to a party- and at the end of the night he was covered in blood because the sharp studs were digging into his body- they ended up hanging it in the Auckland Art Gallery and I quickly took a photo of it before the lady came in and told me to put my camera away. I’ll have to develop my film and put it up sometime!
its like they are blowfish.hehe.
Very creative collection! I prefer the last 2 black outfits though, they have a circus vibe to it.
This is wicked! I love fashion that students produce! Jesmond is the student village near northumbria and so i went to have a look to see the shops they go in i found this one which is online – http://www.julesb.co.uk/womenswear.html bit expensive but still pretty cool.
OMG I LOVE THEM!
