I have the unfortunate infliction of possessing a rather soft face. Like a marshmallow at best or at worst, a giant jacket potato face. In other words, I'm never going to loook like Leonor Scherrer, daughter of Jean Louis Scherrer – these Vogue Paris June/July 08 images have been seared into my brain for far too long just by the sharp angularity of her face… even more so when I saw her in the flesh backstage at the Givenchy A/W09 show…. I'm never going to have those kind of angles or sharpness about me. Which leads me to wonder whether me and this new Belle Sauvage A/W09 collection will be a match made in heaven. The truth is, I've been holding out on writing about Belle Sauvage because whilst I've loved the prints, there's always been too much of a novelty/kitsch factor about the clothes that have prevented me from swooning. Not even when they launched their ever so tempting online store did the post ever get round to being written.
This collection comes as by far their best yet in my opinion. Not that I'm measuring a collection by how well it would suit an aging couturier's daughter/muse but I swear this would suit the younger self of Leonor to a tee. Desite my love for the collection, I doubting my ability to pull off the sharp sharp cuts, the abundance of catsuits and the oodles of attitude the Sauvage has bought together in this cohesive collection. The sad truth is jacket potato faced me wants to wear everything in the collection…
…not least because up close, the prints are so intriguing – Pop art-motifs, geometric prints and prism effects all combine together with a restrained set of colours that really make the prints sing and work to their maximum capacity on the tight dresses, tunics, linings of capes, catsuits… all of which sit well with the tailoring.
Damn jacket potato face…
irregular choice shoes!
You knew that “the sharp angularity” can describe a mean person…So love youre “potato face” (i love mine) because sometime it gives you a youthful note 🙂
I, for one, would bet money that you would be able to pull off any one of these amazing outfits!
Cheekbones are overrated. Just another thing on the endless list of things one can fake with the right makeup!
I’d rather you be a jacket potato than an angry looking fish. cheekbones are overrated! That said…I’d quite like to see mine one day…
Hmmm, funny how I always hated my strong features. I have very prominent cheekbones. My sister has the same face shape as yours, hehe. I still think she’s pretty.
I’m glad for my cheeks, and you can have cheekbones as well. Yours are there, I assure you. In 15 years or so when your friends’ faces are sliding off their jawbones and you still have the plump look of youth, you will be very grateful for what you’ve got!
This reminds me of the cosmetic surgery trend in the early/mid-90s where fat was removed from the inside of the cheek to get a more defined look. And now all of Hollywood is getting cheek implants and fillers – to look like you!!
Forget the cheekbones, what is wrong with her nose?? Did she go to Michael Jackson’s plastic surgeon? YOU are adorable, she is grotesque!
cheekbones are nice, but as you get older you start to look more and more like skeletor..(nb i have prominent cheekbones and i’m a bit terrified i’ll have the sunken zombie look a decade from now…i suppose the grass is always greener…)
Hey, the so-called jacket potato face is nothing to sneeze at, it’s nice to have a bit of softness to your face…and as for the pulling-off-clothes bit, it really doesn’t make a difference- I saw pictures of Korean actress Yoon Eun Hye (she also has a soft, jacket-potato face and cheeks like yours) in a magazine a couple of years ago and she rocked the angular looks just dandily.
PS: Ewww, the concept of facial fat removal just to get cheekbones is disgusting.
The shoes in these pics are delicious. Plus, you have a lovely face!!
amazing collection, I love everything in it!
brilliant. those prints are just breathtaking and the presentation is excellent.
xxxc
you would look great in these clothes, and you/your face are much more beautiful than this model!
Great collection, and the hair looks so cool, what amaze me are the cheekbones, they look so… I dont know unique. Great post
What can I say? I enjoyed reading this post and will surely come back for more. Thank you!
