Beautiful collage. The man is a genius with woman’s clothes and it’s really a shame he wasn’t honored. If I had the endless resources, I’d wear Ala√Øa all the time.
I so agree, Alaia is one of the absolute best! Love the collage, and his shoes…

I can’t find any good reason for not including him.

Yea! Loved this.
Nice collage Susie:)
great post, who doesn’t love Alaia
Beautiful. It’s a shame about the Met.
This makes me wish we lived in a time when designers like him celebrated women’s bodies and made clothes for curves, instead of all the current designers making clothes for sticks. *Sigh*

Funny, I just went to the new york public library and did a ton of Alaia research for myself & the blog. Will be posting these next week. Weird how Alexander Wang gets 10x more press than Alaia, who to me, is the Cristobal Balenciaga of modern day couture.

great post, the work speaks for itself. its so amazing yet simple.
The designs are so sleek! Great post.
Alaia is a true genius who has shaped the way women dress today. I would love to know what has been going on behind closed doors, and the reasons for such a rift between him and Wintour.
Carl: I suspect it’s not a rift but rather that Alaia doesn’t advertise in Vogue…
omg did you go the the exhibition yet, i wanna go so bad. awesome pictures btw
what i would give to own a single Alaia piece…
And plus, if he had gone, he could show those tiny little Thakoons et al the real meaning of tiny!
What a shame, at least some people boycotted the gala for him and had their own party…
these pics are amazingg, way to spread the alaia love.
i especially bright mod dresses up there.
i would rock that in a heartbeat.
xox.
The Voguette

Great job, like the last 1
Lovin the collage Susie!
Ruth @ Matches
thanks for pointing this out with this lovely collage
Love Alaia… want a pair of his shoes…
He is one of the last designers who still understands the excess in fashion, if it’s sex, or fabric experiment, or a shoe. Excess…. hmmm, mmmm
Alaia is timeless. The proportions of his clothes, even from vintage scans, look just as good now as they did then.
I wish I understood the nature of this political squabble.
what great imagery!
thanks for sharing that!
ahh i love the way he makes a woman’s curves look..hes a genius with that

I freaking love it! .. the group shot of the models may well be the best ensemble model pic I have seen to date, maybe second only to the B&W Peta “we’d rather go naked…” campaign.
