The big ol' A/W 09 Arcadia press day rolled in and OF COURSE what
ensued was 100s (literally…count em'…) of pictures ensued at the
store store of the whole show – Topshop.
In fact, this is the single most image heavy I've posted ever I think.
Why do I laboriously upload each one so much so that the laptop is too
hot too touch? That they just go above and beyond the call of a high
street store with their collaborations, Unique ranges etc is old news.
Today I think I might have said something quite brown-nosey such as "I
think this is the best Topshop collection I've seen yet." It came out
because I literally wanted about 80% of it all. Going back to my pie
chart mathematics, Topshop clearly doesn't constitute 805 of my
wardrobe but come this fall, that percentage could dangerously sky
rocket. As I lifted things up and touched things, clothes felt heavier
and more work has clearly gone into it.
Some of you will jest
at my enthusiasm for the store so much so that you'll suspect that I'm
being paid. I'm not. If I wasn't invited to the press day, I'd
gatecrash and digicam my way through any way. Not to say that Topshop
gets off scot-free.. Those designer/catwalk references and blatant
blogger style influences (Rumi, Karla, Queen Michelle on that moodboard
me thinks!). I'll forgive them though that as consumers hanker for
something, that they as a savvy high street store deliver some and then
more…
Let the mahussive picture fest begin…
That sheer cage/crino skirt appeared a few months ago but returns
with different panels…and incorporated with snakeskin-effect fabric…
…and
also into structured grey lace jackets (will buy #1). Rodarte-esque
knits have evolved into thinner, crochet patchwork knits that are more
delicate.
Lace features in thinner and layered forms this season, over grey sweatshirts and light denim jeans (will buy #2)
The loose, shallow double breasted jacket bejewelled or with leather panels and incorporated shoulder pads.
A tamer version of my Bordelle body corset that no doubt will fly out…
My long-bra obsession will be augmented by this black sequin and pink satin versions (will buy both #3 and 4)
The Balenciaga S/S 08 cap sleeved short jacket which Topshop paid
homage to last summer has gotten a new print // Oversized leopard print
that would layer nicely over the Barbara Hulanicki print (will buy #6)
Anaglyphic
print prayers have been answered with this print backed blazer and
tunic… not sure if they actually materialise into anything though if
you view them with glasses…
Florals still live in dusty beaten-up jeans… have yet to find my perfect floral trews…
A hand finish that is rarely seen at Topshop. These satin dresses
and skirts have been hand painted to resemble Victorian-esque ink
spills from the writing quill…
Blogosphere studding frenzy continues…
Biker styles in various forms and weights…
Leather pailettes…here's to you Queen M!
Gradiated and colour blocked fringe….glad it's still around… (will buy #8 and 9)
More natty jackets in crushed velvet and black crunchy lame type material…
These
are WEIGHTY pieces… could barely hold with one arm. The trousers are
particularly heavy and I'm looking forward to walking slowly in them
(will buy #10)
The embellishment are also on these short shorts.
The furryness is still about in this black jacket and on this Big Bird skirt.
The Unique stuff needs no more words seeing as the show was two
months ago but seeing them upclose sans Katie Grand's styling really
gives them a whole new context…
This wool cocoon needs this gingham bra under it…
Onto
shoes… I'm settled on buying a pair of thigh highs and I've decided
they will be the Unique ones on the left (will buy #12)
The Unique shoes…
Studs, cages and buckles galore…
The boots on the left weigh a TON due to the heavy studdage. // The frill front gets a new grosgrain-esque finish…
Mid-calf boots with peep toes…
The Topshop-designer shoe collabos extend to these sweet Peter
Jensen boots and Ashish animal print wedges… I'm strangely attracted
to the zebra ones.
Black sequin fetish is further fuelled by this biker jacket with black sequin panels… (will buy #1)
Grey jersey, knotted and everything looking like a skeleton from afar… (will buy #2)
Keeping things simple with this sheer scalloped top (will buy #3).
Last but not shoe-worthy least… the bloody Emma Cook for Topshop boots that have eluded me two seasons in a row now WILL be mine (will buy #4, 5 and 6…want them all?). Emma Cook was strangely absent this London Fashion Week but I'm told something exciting is yet to come… meanwhile her presence is being felt with her creeper boots converted into moccasin wedges.
>>MAJOR EDIT – You will notice that the bulk of the pictures on
this original post have been taken down. Yup, sadly Topshop are
protective over their designs and don't want every Tom, Dick and Harry
copying their stuff before these goodies even hit the shop floor.
Understandable and so in unprecedented blog editing, I have heavily
chopped this post down, leaving my fave fave items. If you email me
and verify you're not err a designer for New Look/Forever 21/Oasis or
the like, I'll send you a sneaky link to the mass picture post.
>>>ANOTHER EDIT – Doofus that I am, I couldn't actually publish a post and keep it private for people to view and since it's so close to the A/W09 collections dropping, I've put the pictures back up here… though stills/lookbooks are coming out anyway so these are kind of redundant…
If I weren’t in Australia I’d be saving every penny I have for some of these.

Ok. Each and every one of those images is just a treat. So looking forward to seeing these in store! Know what you mean re. the Emma Cook boots. I am going to have to *stalk* the burgundy ones… YUM! The sheer scalloped top and the leopard cardie are just too cute for words, and I’ll be willing to sell my soul for that sequinned biker jacket! Hehe.

WHY can’t there be topshops in the us midwest yet?!?!
Thanks for sharing all these images, I love your little peeks into Topshop’s next collections. I’m going to go to sleep now thinking of all the lovely things that will hopefully be in my wardrobe this autumn.
I have a feeling though that these Emma Cook boots are going to be just as hard to get hold of as the last ones!
Amazing shoes!!! I can not wait to try all them!!! Anyway I’ve just saw on twitter a voucher for mango only for tomorrow!!! http://twitter.com/mangoshop

Wow wow wow! Amazing. FYI Susie the Asos floral trews u were after are on site now!! X
Topshop has a way of making me feel like I’ve been copying them, even though I haven’t! I guess it’s just that everything they’ve done here is SO spot on with what I’ve been thinking about sewing/wearing lately. Love this stuff!
i adore topshop. they really need more US stores! the gray jersey knotted top that looks like a skeleton is amazing; the wool cocoon coat loaks beautiful! really enjoy your blog.
http://trendvixen.blogspot.com
wow susie! this is amazing I love so much of it: the skeleton top, the rodarte sweater, the thigh high boots, the burgundy emma cook’s. Top shop is killin’ it!
cannot wait until they start posting these to the website, is this all fall ’09?
http://www.styleanthem.blogspot.com
Thanks for all your hard work Susie! This was a most excellent post.
I wonder what all the designers are thinking about these rampant knock offs… Oh well, I am very much liking the cage skirt and the cracked/bleached/embellished skirt.
Ok, so my heart started beating faster as I was scrolling down, esp. with the biker threads and the studded jeans. Want/need a pair of those mid-calf peep-toe boots. Just Wow. Thanks for sharing these photos.

AHHH! I can’t wait. I really want to get my hands on the fake version of your Bordelle body corset. Thank you so much for the gratuitous photos, they were much much appreciated.

Oh wow. I think I need that knotted jersey skeleton top!
Oh my gosh, I want all of the shoes you pictured! And the bra/corset things! And basically everything!! Wow I’m on a Topshop high right now lol!
AMAZING stuff! Wow! I’m particularly loving the ink-spilled skirts…
I am absolutely blown away by this. Wish I had been invited to the press day so my mits could touch those tactile fabrics!
I’m intrigued by the skeleton-look jersey.
I’m extremely irritated at Topshop. Not only wont the come to Norway, but they wont even ship to us… So sad!
thankyou thankyou thankyou for posting these. even though i live in Australia and will pretty much never get my hands on any of this stuff (am weary of Topshop’s no returns policy), this is just a visual smorgasboard of inspiration and deliciousness. mmmm…..also thanks for posting it just at the same moment that i plonked myself down in front of a computer in my uni library so that i could steal my uni’s superfast bandwith to drool over such lovely things… muah ha ha ha!
OMG
I can’t stand the moccasin boots, especially the cheap looking rubber wedge supporting it. Why Emma? Why!
On the other hand, I’m simply melting over the rest of your choices.
GIVE ME: blue and white fringed jacked, floral print jeans, pannelled body corset, the scalloped mid-driff and the wool coocoon! Delicions.
The long bra is so Madonna. I like the scalloped shirt. xo Cari http://isnotfashion.blogspot.com
wow thanks for posting all of these amazing preview photos! I’m dying to buy that snakeskin print skirt!!!! and those thigh high boots are just calling my name.. haha.
wow… definitely feeling the grey jersey knotted number. cool new way to get that skeleton vibe without being obnoxiously literal. very interesting fabrics this season. thanks for the digicamming!
and down with super studded everything. the blogosphere is not always right.

i think i just had a heart attack over that colourblocked fringe dress. i bet it will sell out online, and i bet i will cry. i will cry! oh well, DIY.
this is the biggest eyecandy post I’ve ever seen….MAN..
I’m excited about some of the shoes there. I’m so relieved they opened a Topshop in the U.S.
When is all this stuff hitting the racks? I didn’t see any of it on the site.
I wish Top Shop has a store in my country 🙁
please please say the emma cook boots will be available online for us poor shoe hungry aussie wenches.. !!!
I am DYING for a pink bralet like that, and that grey knotted hoodie is going in my inspiration folder 😛
-Giselle <3<3<3
sighs* i love it all!
Susie every time you do this my heart starts racing and I get really anxious that I’m going to get to London too late and miss out on everything… Now I’m in anxiety overdrive, I’m going to have nightmares until I own, oh say, about half of those peices! (NEED animal print wedges from Ashish show… WOW!)
x
oh my oh my oh my..that’s what i’ve been saying in my head as i went through all those photos! i want just about everything! i especially love that caged skirt at the top.
i also want to thank you for the linkage it was very nice of you, but i’m afraid to tell you that i’m not from the UK…though i would love to visit some day! 🙂
oh my gosh I’m actually panting a little. EVERYTHING here is so craveable, I want it allllll 🙂
Wao its amazing collection each and every thing here is awesome. specially i am mad about the clothes designs.
Thanks for posting these pics 🙂 Hopefully the new flagship in Singapore (opening fall09) will carry most of these beauties… NEED those thigh high Unique boots!!
http://shop-too-much.blogspot.com/
I will fight for those black pearly trousers. There will be blood.
There are no words. None.
Why is there not a single topshop in Norway? They won’t even ship to us from the online store! It’s cruel!
It’s so painful because it’s so good, and knowing how hard designers work on their own collection just to see it knocked of much cheaper and often better by topshops team of designers and made in india/china is heartbreaking. i don’t buy topshop for that reason but occassionaly cave in for shoes, then feel super guilty about it!
You’re gonna be broke, Susie!
Wish there was a Topshop in Hong Kong….. sigh!
my eyes are flicking everywhere and my heart is racing… i think i may dive into a coma. this is very overwhelming…i want so many things….. thanks for sharing..
xx-LJ from SOS!
sometimes i wish i was a girl! NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT!!!

I actually thought it’d be longer! hahaha I kinda wanted more. It’s all so nice to look at and dream about. only boring designs end up in the topshops here in the philippines boo! I wish I live in London…
what a choice of clothes , omg !!!!
Holy shit (pardon the French). I seriously want everything! And how come I can never actually find anything ‘in stock’ when I search (boo)?
Those Emma Cook boots are my first purchase. I want, I want, I want (completely selfish, but oh well 😉
Here’s to the topshop race!
I have literally stopped eating from this moment – I NEED THOSE CLOTHES/SHOES EVERYTHING!!!!!
I <3 topshop - their pieces are so covetable, more so than anyother British highs treet shop I know!
love the biker jackets and the floral jeans. thanks for sharing. the photos are greatly appreciated even by people like me who can’t get topshop at all. we can still dream though.
wow, i must to say i love almost everything in these photos (except maybe that yellow bird-skirt).
The Zebra Print Wedge is killing me!!
Everything looks great!! The new Topshop in New York is TERRIBLE, especially when compared to the main one in UK. They are trying to cater to what they think is popular in American fashion, without realizing why everyone was dying to have a Topshop here was so we could finally get our hands on something that didn’t look like it came out of a Forever 21.

There are some great pieces… and some not so great, trying way to hard pieces. lol. When do they start to hit the stores?
x
everything in this post sends my heart a-flutter…amazing!
i love the cage bras! hmmm but how in the world do i get one! always love your entries <3
Wow this collection is so cool! Nothing looks like plain ol’ normal, it’s definitely higher fashion than your regular “regular” clothing store! Man, I wish they had TopShop in Canada.
liked the jackets vry much…
I wasn’t fussed about the Topshop in NYC before plus I didn’t want to have to wait in line for 45 mins for no reason whatsoever, but I now I may have to go down there and wait it out, even though this is all fall stuff.
love it. when does it hit the stores? im so going to london!
When will these be available to buy? I am so excited!
Ah! The website has none of these things… where is this topshop store located, which country??? xxx
