Cycling into Spring

I'll be honest and say that the only reason why I've been stalking H&M these past few weeks is to see whether these S/S 09 cycling shorts to the left had dropped in or not.  No jersey bandage dress or coral neoprene-esque jacket was half as tempting as the odd colour combination of pink, yellow, black and pale blue panelling in these shorts.

It was a ¬£9.99 joy that I couldn't wait to have just so I could colour match it elsewhere in the most direct way possible and today was the perfect spring day opportunity to do that via a vintage yellow satin jacket (from Mama Lau's closet…), a Topshop light denim bustier top, a Graey panelled tee, that ye old faithful pink PVC skirt and some pink press day freebie tights.

It's the sort of colour matching that is frighteningly gauche and matchy matchy to the point of anal that in the end it sort of ends up becoming endearing.  Somewhere along in the realm of it's so bad it's good.  I also ate a mass of chestnut paste, green tea cream and red bean gooeyness today that runs along those lines.  Today I was intent on tri/quad colouring my outfit and food and as a result I'll probably be reverting to a mass of grey and beige food tomorrow due to the colour OD.

  1. You’ve styled them fantastically and it’s a great photo. The coral neoprene-esque jacket sounds very intriguing to me..

  2. Oh the colors in that picture are incredible! You seriously matched the shades to a T, love the anal-ness of it all lol!

  3. What an amazing outfit! I love the tri/quad matching of colours! I especially adore that satin yellow jacket, GORGEOUS! 😉

  4. Hi Susie, a non fashion question, where did u get the chestnut paste dessert in London. My friend is desperate for the hk style chestnut tarts!!

  5. congrats on snagging these! stalking h&m seems the only way to shop there, their turn over is way too fast! i’ll go in store next week to see the shorts for myself, seem like a great addition under flared skirts

  6. too cute! I love how the colours of your outfit possibly directed your choice of food. not sure if that has even happened to me. Perhaps its the mood that it creates..

  7. Wonderful outfit! I love how everything goes together. The pair of fuschia tights is such a natural extension of the bike shorts.
Now I need to get myself to H&M and get myself a pair…

  8. You know you are possibly going to be responsible for H&M’s ENTIRE sales of those shorts. Plus they are lush.

  9. so matchy matchy – i love it.
