The Tights Box Gets Bigger

The beauty of Twitter is that sometimes I get quick tidibits from people pointing me to links that I might find interesting and sure enough somebody dug out a treasure.  Or perhaps it's trash depending on how you feel about obscure Italian hoisery/bodywear labels.  In the same way that I've written about Wolford or Falke in the past and how their e-commerce sites (which leave a lot to be desired…) sometimes throw up some unexpected gems, Emilio Cavallini, an Italian tights brand that I have come across in department stores, also has somethings that might sneak their way into my wardrobe…

The thing I almost find strange about hoisery brands is that they even bother making actual clothes at all… as in things that don't come in neat white boxes… not that the clothes are rubbish or anything but I rarely actually see a Wolford tee or in this case an Emilio Cavallini dress in physical proximity and only ever seem to come across them whilst randomly web surfing.  Still, I guess there must be some purpose they're serving…like tight bodywear with matching tights to make for a head to toe dipped in pattern look… Cavallini's A/W 08 op art collection for instance. 

In any case the site is for bodycon layering addicts such as myself that also likes adding to bulging cardboard boxes full of tights with yet…another pair of tights…and since Cavallini is always tucked away in some random hoisery department I might as well get web-happy…

  14. I LOVE the ones with the pink-and-cream colour-blocking. They remind me of Renee Zellweger’s pink-and-white checkered coat in Down With Love.

  20. Tights are my saviour when I don’t feel like shaving my legs for a week.
    They also make me feel like a [super stylish] superhero.

  21. I couldn’t resist those lavender/white colour block over-knees in a shop last month. Haven’t had a chance to wear them yet and I already know that they will be stocking length rather than just over-knee on me (as WendyB already pointed out Emilio Cavallini hosiery is really loooooonnnnnng!). Can’t wait to wear them!

  24. emilio had tried to expand into the ny market a few years back (8 to 10 years ago?) by staging fashion shows and having showroom 7 do the pr. wasn’t as successful as it could have been. partly because body-con hadn’t resurfaced yet as a fashion trend.

  31. I bought 2 pairs of Cavallini tights in Venice about 6 years ago, I still wear them to this day, they are very good quality and would recommend them!

  37. i passed by the emilio cavalini store every day when i studied in florence, italy…always loved staring at all the gorgeous tights in the window display, but never actualy went in. good thing though, i’d probably be broke!
