Some of you might have already seen these Roger Vivier "One is Too" creations presented during Haute Couture fashion week. The idea is pretty self-explanatory- a modest spindly heel gets transformed into a platform with a strap-on block underneath and then further adorned with ribbons and flowers making shoes look less and less functional and more and more like some sort of Careme creation.
As I face a month of trying to bring enough variety of shoes with me on my travels to sufficiently go with every outfit, I'll probably be creating my own poor-man's Vivier by using my old tricks of decorating shoes with my collection of ribbons, cheap jewellery and haberdashery bits and bobs, tricks that have been documented here before but needs a bit of a refresh I think. I'll also be turning to the use of spats to turn some shoes into much-needed boots (minus temperatures in New York).
These Roger Vivier creations which creative director Bruno Frisoni spent yonks perfecting with Italian cobblers, reviving medieval shoe techniques, have made me think whether a lo-fi version of an attached-platform can indeed be crafted with a bit of imagination and know-how. Two-in-one shoes makes me shudder and think of a rather unfortunate "boot-with-an-attached-purse" design I saw a few years ago but something like this actually makes sense in that you're sculpturally transforming the shoe. Cue some genius start-up company going about making strap-on-platforms that don't cost around ¬£20,000 quid… or at least that's what I hope anyhow…
What an ingenious idea. A while ago I heard about these wedges that you could open up at the bottom so you could store things inside… I always thought the sound of stuff rattling in your shoes would really get to you after a while.
I like the Careme reference! – nice one.
That is art…
Wow. It amazes me that fantasy will never run out.. this is incredible! I neeeeed those!
I like the idea of multi-functional clothing, It’s something I have been thinking about for a while. Shoes with interchangeable heels. Dresses with removable sections for day/night wear. Shirts with interchangeable collars etc…
Amazing site ^^
Those are wild!

Great idea, especially to revive an old shoe. Wonder how they are to walk in though?
Hey Sstellaa…did you link to Elle HK for a reason?

Two in One shoes, interesting concept. Don’t really know if I like them or not but I surely admire the talented work of the Italian cobblers. And thank you for introducing Careme, as a French I’m a little bit ashamed I didn’t know anything about him!
Shoes are georgeous and interesting, but I wonder what the top one would look like if it didn’t have all of the fake flowers plastered on top of it. It seems like overkill on a completely awesome shoe concept. I do like the additional decoration on the other ones, though.
I’m a complete RV gal – I got married in RV shoes so I love love love this concept and the whole spectacle. I’ll be diying as much as is possible!
Those are lovely! The concept of two-in-one shoes is so interesting, convertible shoes would be amazing, I’d just fear that adding on the platform would make the shoes heavy.
I loooove the first green alligator pair – so gorgeous.
Hi Susie.
Hope you don’t mind but I have added your blog to my blogroll.
Take a look 🙂
xx
Wow, epic x
I had not seen these.. my mind is blown.
Most of these are just too over the top, but the gold shoe is absolutely gorgeous 🙂
Love love love shoes… That is very crafty….I think if I can use that word. They’re very interesting. But it got to be hard to actually walk in those heels.
these are definitely one of a kind! wearing these ONLY would already make a complete outfit!
Don’t forget Posso The Spat! Remember those add-on things? I even bought the hideous gladiator add-on, to my everlasting embarrassment.
You would not be on a night out a see someone wearing the same shoes as you thats for sure
those shoes are so beautiful! i need to try so DIY ones with flowers…
The look like little presents, ready to open.
I can’t wait to do flower DIY.
