Pepe-ing it Up

What's the next best thing if one can't afford Maria Francesca Pepe's shiny, glossy tubing, not unlike enlarged shower roller hose (no really, scroll down, they are better than what I made them sound like…)?  An oversized tee (got tees on the brain today alas… perhaps I'll perk up tomorrow, go crazy and break out with long sleeved tee suggestions…) printed with MFP's trademark coil jewellery.  The simple slouch of the tee and the subtlety of the print for once makes me want to slick on lippie and I haven't wanted to do that in a longtime seeing as minus zero weather makes for dry chappy lips.

Of course, nothing compares with the real shebang… the tube jewellery that set Pepe on an initial path of jeweller after she featured them in her graduate collection at Central Saint Martins.  I just need to save up my pennies and slowly but surely I'll get there and be able to hang some tubes over the tee… good thing that they'll probably always feature as part of Pepe's jewellery line.

However, for S/S 09, she has gone back to her womenswear routes and introduced clothing that is perfect for integrating eith her jewellery and gives her jewellery a better platform to stand out from.  I'm also chuffed that she's showing as part of Fashion East at London Fashion Week in February.  We'll see if I turn up fan-girl style at the show with the tee…

  1. That jewellery actually makes me cry a little bit, it’s so excellent.
Your lipstick looks wicked as well.

  2. It’s really amazing how a little splash of lipstick can make a person look totally different! I think it looks great, loving those sequined loose pants on you too!
I think it goes without saying that the jewelry is stunning, but I’ll say it anyways….It’s stunning!

  3. Skirt over trews! Sequins! Black and white! Fierce make-up! Sheer! Fringe! Cage! Amazingness! *fangirlgasm*

  4. Amazing images from Pepe and I have those black patent heels, or at least a version of them. I guess it’s only right that I get one of the amazing outfits to go with.
Love the lipstick and the hair. Sadly my forays into dramatic make-up have not been as successful!

  5. yeah i think she is my favorite jewelry designer right now. it kills me to not be able to own one of her pieces just yet but you did a good job making your own! maybe you could spraypaint it with super shiny gold spraypaint!

  6. i thought it was a real necklace! i do like how they’ve put one on backwards with the low back dress, very striking. also lipstick looks awesome on you, i really want to wear a tacky light orange/coral colour one but it doesn’t suit me, despite that kind of being the point, would you ever give that a ago with some muted pastels?

  7. Ah, love those lips! I actually just got a lipstick in that shade last week, and been thinking about how to transition into that “look”, so to speak. Once I get another haircut I’ll put that look to the test. 🙂

  8. that shade of lipstick is gorgeous on you! and you look really great with your hair up. well done

  9. YOU ARE UNBELIEVABLE CHIC!!! The lipstick is SO wonderful on you. I remember when you first got it you said you didn’t like it very much? We ll I love it on you. I’m asian with the same haircut and I LOVE using dark blacks, purples and reds. I got the YSL Pur Black lipgloss and it is really nice to add to lipsticks because it makes it VERY dark.
The Katarzyna Szczotarska shirt goes well with the cage dress. the proportions are perfect.

  10. I love the image of the model holding her arms out with clothes hanging from them. That would make a lovely shop window display…

  11. Ohmygoddd I saw her pieces during the last Berlin Fashion Week and fell completely in love. There’s nothing I like more in accessories than strong, graphic shapes. I need that shirt!

  12. First off, that fringe jacket. Ojoasbfjasd. When I worked at a consignment store we had a jacket just like that in a bolero style and I waited to long for the price to go down that the day I came in to finally buy it, it was gone. It was a sad, sad day. Second, love your nude shoes, I’m in the need for a pair. And lastly, I want to rock those insane ponytails as seen in Pepe’s lookbook.

  13. for a moment there I nearly cried with envy thinking you actually had one of the necklaces! amazing hard-edged look though – you look great, especially with the dark lipstick. and loving the sheer shirt as well.

  14. yes i have to agrree with the lipstick comments… you should really wear it more often, you’ve got such good lipstick lips!

  15. What I wouldn’t do for a pair of those black creeper-esque shoes they are insane!!
agreed: lipstick looks so incredible on you – ridiculously striking

  16. Those sequin trousers are amazing and I agree that the tee is a quite a replica of her amazing jewelry. I’m loving the black and white graphite look of her S/S 09 stuff.
Sidebar: the lipstick looks great one you!

  17. Love the sexy thick coiled jewelry, it is incredibly sexy on a small frame. The outfit you choose compliments it so well with the boots and sheer dress… gorgeous!! The patterns Pepe choose are amazing as well. I love black and white with a statement.

  18. What fantastic pieces. Chunky and sleek all at once. Save those pennies, Bubble, I want to see you put Pepe into action!

  19. i there anywhere to buy the skeleton print jersey dress by Pepe S/S 09? thewhole collection is gorgeous!!
……and the lipstick definitely looks great on you!

  20. i really love that shade of lipstick.
i’m also really tempted to rip out my shower tube from my bath and wear it now hah.

  21. That Katarzyna Szczotarska shirt is a stunner, if I owned it, I don’t think I would ever take it off!

  22. susie that first outfit is sick…i love it, the baggy sequinned pants are amaazzzing, i would kill for a pair just like that.

  23. Susie you look so freaking good with black lipstick on.
I think these two ensembles are my favourite outfits I’ve ever seen you in.
Perfectly styled, I love it xx

  24. I think this is the first post I’ve seen of you wearing such intense lipstick, AND I LOVE IT.
I strongly, strongly encourage you to experiment more with it, at least for my own vicarious interest. It totally changes the mood of the whole outfit.
