I’m travelling around a bit over the month (emergency holidays) but I know each time that I come back to London, it will always be that little bit colder. I don’t know whether it’s a totally imagined feeling due to the end of a holiday but I always shiver a little as soon as I get out of the airport. The Etsy seller Yokoo solves the wrapping up warm problem and also another blog-related query which I get on a daily basis; "Where can I buy the United Colours of Benetton chain scarf that you got??", to which I always answer "It’s impossible to find the same one as they were sold over a year ago…". Now I can propose an alternative as Yokoo makes a variety of chain scarves in a plethora of colours that are far more interesting than the ones Benetton made. I can testify that the scarves are also apt for other use as belts and dress customisation (I’ve tied mine as a one shoulder strap on a dress once…) so Yokoo’s different lengths, chunkiness and colours of knitted chains will serve different purposes.
She also creates many a cosy neck/head wrap…
It does help that Yokoo models all of her creations herself and photographs herself in such a way that really sells the knitted goods. I’m wondering who else but her can pull off the following hats. The slightly bleak settings, the greys/teal tones in the background, the face-on serious expression and oversized glasses all contribute to enhancing the pieces. For some reason I’m reminded of films like Lars and the Real Girl, Lonesome Jim and Thumbsucker… settings and scenarios that call for a little bit of bleakness… I get that feeling a lot when trying to wrap up warm…

I LOVE the look of the chains. Would they really keep you warm though, seeing as they’re rather far from the neck?
Oooh, thanks for telling us!
I really love her big neck/head wraps. I love how she photographs her creations with herself in them too – I’m deffo contemplating buying something for winter!
Even though I own the Benetton scarf I’m now contemplating one of these necklaces…thanks!
These are brilliant!
the 2 white ones are my faves.
I’m not sure what I like the most the photos or the knits. I’m going to make some poms poms now..
PS methinks you are an agent as opposed to a structalist! A force of freedom…

The cocoon neck wrap would come in handy in Canada right now…

Haha, the photo of Yokoo with the woolie cap ‘eating’ some wool thread, just priceless! Thanks for sharing, her stuff looks great! Shame I’m now heading towards Summer, must remember her when Winter comes again…
i love the big chunky neck and head warmers!
Great post. Miss Yokoo is tops! Check her Flickr stream too for her amazing photographs.

she’s on flickr, she’s really cool and the yellow one is superb!!
I love the first two. She’s been on my Etsy favourites for agessssssss. I wish I had some money!
Thanks for sharing!
I always liked your Benetton chain but the bigger, more exagerated version is too good to be true.
The prices are a little bit tough though, I might need to learn knitting eventually.
I love these photos, Yokoo definitely knows how to play to the camera in her own unique way. I wish I could knit or pose as well as she can!
I LOVE these! I’ve been knitting this autumn for a new scarf…I may need to switch it up and try to make the chain scarf!
This is the ultimate chunky necklace- I love it.

Little Purls on etsy has some knit chain jewelry, too.
love the big neck wraps, and that last spaghetti photo is killing me.
Save your money girls and DIY, I made the chain scarf and it’s incredibly easy.
BTW, new people compliment me on it every time I wear it.
BTW too, I got the idea to make it last year from Style Bubble, thanks Susie!

NO NO NO.
This girl takes herself way too seriously. She is obnoxious. After i read her featured article on etsy I really wanted to slap her. I think she likes people to think she is creative and an “artist” but she isnt.
