Dogs and Berries

Yay for exceptions and surprises.  A lot of comments/emails came my way that the style in SF was mostly laid back and bad layering.  Someone did say there were flashes of brilliance.  I think this was one of them.  Excuse the short post as I have to go to hunt for medicine in Walgreens but Nicole here perked me up yesterday as soon as I saw her Viktor & Rolf for H&M tights (I don’t wear them half as well…) and her berry brooches…

…and she has the perfect pooch…the kind that doesn’t growl/poop (I’m not really an animal person…)

  1. I love that it’s themed throughout with the doggy shoes and the leafy hair ornament. Amazing outfit.

  2. Thanks so much for taking my picture and the lovely comments! Tonight ill see you at the fashion show, Ill be wearing an ensemble created completely by me 🙂

  3. I have never been brave enough to tackle the ‘Everything all at once’ look but it looks great on this lady. The berry brooches and tights really add to the entire outfit. Lovely!

  4. I love it. She looks like she walked out of a storybook, or a strawberry patch. The red in her jacket and the pink in her leggings are a wonderful complement to her eyes and her rosy cheeks.
Love the fruit on her neckline. Reminds me of a friend of mine who wears a grape necklace thing sometimes. When I see someone dressed like this it really makes me feel happy about clothes and what clothes can do to compliment someone’s uniqueness. I think she must have a great point of view.

  5. Ah, those shoes are intriguing.. and as bold as her outfit is, I can’t seem to keep my eyes off of the patterned carpet.
    I feel a bit ADHD.

  6. So funny ref to “not really an animal person”
Again you prove your brilliance. Who is willing to slave after a dog all day cleaning up its endless poop?
    Not Susie Bubble !

  7. Wow, just checked out Nicole’s blog, and love her style in it! The gorgeous cloche hats & vintage dresses are just darling!

  8. hahah she is so awesome. i love her matching doggy shoes and bag. i don’t htink i could pull off that outfit…

  9. Her style kills me…. every single time. It’s so so good and she loves the Hives too!

  10. Loving her shoes, love, love, love (read ‘want want want’)!!! Oh for more dalmo’ aplique attire!

  11. Love the jacket, the shoes are too fun for words! Must conjure up the cat version of this outfit.

  12. I take exception to the SF style comments. I don’t know where you’ve been hanging out but certainly not with the folks I know who are not afraid of color, costume, vintage, mismatch, and quirk. Really, what San Francisco does best is allow people to be themselves and wave the freak flag loud and proud. We are the home of trannies for pete’s sake. And while there are plenty of fashion faux pas, there is more often than not flashes of transgression and of brilliance. Being in an environment that is so accepting of the odd allows for experimentation you wouldn’t get anywhere else.
What we don’t do in SF is “trendy”, labels or “it bags”. And we wouldn’t be caught dead in H&M that’s for sure. Unless it was to buy cheap undies and bras.

  13. the coat and the shoes are very cool , but the outfit as a whole is not really my style and I don’t really think she looks great on it! but that’s just me…
the tights are the only thing I really imagine myself wearing!

  14. My first impression of this lady and her outfit was o-o.. But 5 secs later it changed to OH-YES. That doggy-bag just rocks. Amazing. I wish more people would realize that everyday dressing up can be FUN.

  15. I love the dalmation shoes and that coat is amazing. I love accessories and the bag is cool but it is nothing compared to a real dog!!!

  16. I love the pattern of that jacket so much I wish I could buy rolls of wallpaper in it and do up my entire bedroom. I love people who are fearless in their style, this girl rocks my world 😉

  17. i love people wearing their clothes with a sense of humour. it’s so much more interesting than all those stereotypes which i am so tired of.

  18. what a lovely, lovely girl! right out of a fairytale, and a fun one! LOVE it!

  19. Style on the west coast in general is ridiculously laid back. Even in L.A., where you think style might be more of a concern, it’s all flip flops or Uggs.
    Adore that pooch purse.

  20. that look is very SF! the coat is j. crew, right? i loved the print when i saw it at a discount store but couldn’t imagine how i would wear it… this chica has pulled it off. love.
