Wintrified Florals

One of the first few things that I bought from Topshop back in 1996 in ye olde years before Topshop got cool, when the main reason for going there was really the three for tenner vests/tees was not in fact a basic tee/vest but a black cotton slip dress that had a sort of autumnal orange and purple floral pattern and it had some very delicate lace trim.  It was on the ¬£5 sale rack and as I was feeling pretty flush with my Chinese New Years’ money in my Hello Kitty wallet I bought it.  I rarely wore it though just because my flat pancake body never quite filled out the cups despite it being a size eight so it just lay there.  A few years later, I took it up and wore it over jeans maybe once or twice but it was altogether too late and I think it may have been eventually tossed out by accident.

I had an odd dream about that slipdress and woke up this morning wondering where the heck it was and a wee panic attack came over me.  This doesn’t really bode well for when I have to toss a lot of my stuff out when I move in about two weeks time if I’m going to get all sentimental about it a few years down the line.  I just really thought the slipdress was perfect for autumnal/wintrified florals just because dark background-florals set that tone very easily.  I’ve seen some wintrified florals about for AW08-9 but I’m hoping that a few pattern mixes and some chunky shoes and gloves will do the trick as opposed to buying yet another floral something or another.  I just wish that damn slip dress was still here…

the placement on the balcony is quite nice, too!

  2. I didn’t hear the word ‘wintrified’ before and I just think it’s so funny!!!!!!!!!!
    I seriously can’t stop laughing 🙂
You look great of course, btw!
    🙂

  3. wow. you look amazing, i love the gloves as well, they really play up the look real well.

  4. This looks amazing. I love the Margaret Howell tartan shirt – is that from A/W 08? Or a lucky find from a past season? (I’m hoping it’s new because I want it!)
Oh, and your hair looks v. pretty, too. xx

  5. tartan, florals and gloves? totally cool!
btw, i think he skirt is “autumnal” enough since its base is black as opposed to a white/ cream, no?

  6. I love how we’re all talking about fall/winter fashion while there are lovely green plants in the background of the photo. Those who love fashion always crave change I think! I know I’m itching for it around this time of year…

  7. ah… once again, amazing! Am so glad I stumbled upon your blog on one of those procrastinating nights of uni revision.

  8. Genius pattern mixing! Seeing this outfit has *totally* changed what I am wearing today–I’ll be dealing with a temperature flux of 20 degrees today and wanting to wear some new autumn gear while still nodding to summer. I am totally going to wear this new top over a floral tank–after seeing your look I know I can pull it off. This is why I love you Susie Bubble!!! xoxo
