I will keep on banging on about Liberty of London just because I can never stop ogling their bags, accessories and prints whenever I’m in store but I’m continually surprised by the ‘Yeeeshk!’ prices especially for a label wanting to establish itself. Still, I guess ‘luxury’ is where it’s strategising itself towards what with the new Liberty of London store that has popped up on Sloane Street so I guess I’ll have to live with it and just keep on stroking.
But at least I have the ads to console myself with. I just think they’re always so visually well assessed and Liberty do push the boat out when they could very easily play on the ol’ English cliche and have an ‘English rose’-type model (whatever that means…) lounging around a manor house demurely holding a handbag. For AW08-9, we do have some cliches…but twisted very nicely… a lady in a headscarf a la the dear Queen (anybody going to do a take on HRH Queen Elizabeth II this season… D&G is saying yes…I’m not so sure…)… sitting in some English woods… wearing some dark green latex leggings. That would be the twist.
The florals they have created for AW08-9 also prove that the flower won’t wilt and die come autumn as these are decidedly robust and slightly ‘meatier’ if that makes sense with the addition of birds to add another dimension. I’m also loving the faded hue they’ve added to the shot like aged magazine print similar to the gardening mags my boyf’s nan pinned up in her garden shed as inspiration images.

i love the prints and the ads are gorgeous.. unfortunately the placement of her hands on the bag makes it look like she just shot that out of her rump… hahahahaha.
I would love it more if she ditched the headscarf.
really powerful print
I’m digging the men’s tie.
An unexpected combo, but it works for me.
Latex! Yay!
I agree that the ad is pretty cool. But, I don’t really like the print on the bag. If I were going to get a bag with a print like that I’d get one of the new Prada bags with the anime print.

I loved Liberty when I stepped in, but the prices were exorbitant!
I really like all the prints. The bag in last picture is amazing.
I love Liberty of London, I don’t live in London anymore but I still keep my Liberty membership card in my wallet…just in case!
I love wandering their halls, always inspirational because despite being so quintessentially English they are so modern as well. These ads just prove that don’t they?

oh i LOVE those prints!!!! gorgeous
Fab prints, and I don’t fancy headscarves either- methinks hoods (not the kind on sweatshirts!) are much better to keep your head warm!
Love the print but what is it with the tie and the headscarf?
I had a personal introduction to Liberty of London when I was in town last and have to say was totally seduced. Granted the bags come at a price but they’re all hand made by artisans in Italy – none of the “manufactured in Asia and hand finished in Italy” of other very well known luxury labels. Everything is made by hand, and after adding all the highest quality materials up you end up with an expensive bag. BUT far cheaper than the mass produced brands that charge double.
i was just wondering, where are these ads from?
have you seen the print leggings? I saw them a while ago but couldn’t afford them, although they are totally perfect for layering up. They’re actually kind of sheer as its kind of a liberty print almost appliqued onto like a tights base, but the print is so heavy that there aren’t many gaps.
One day, PVC leggings, you will be mine.
nice blog!! very interesting stuff.
i myself have a personal blog, you should check it out!
