The reaction was a little mixed last time I posted about Fleet Ilya. Now that the website is lot more evolved, it seems far more clear as to what Fleet Ilya is all about and now I’m sure that there’s a Fleet Ilya accessory for everyone, despite the self tagged ‘taboo-breaking’ description.
We have the ‘Classic’ line which consists of simple oversized bags (I spy the bag as a dress trick there…), well made belts and even a simple harness that concentrates on craftsmanship that comes from Ilya Fleet’s (one half of the partnership behind the label) background and training under saddler Robin Cochrane.
Then there’s the ‘Concept’ line with couture pieces that mainly involves powerful statement-making belts used in Ana Sekularac’s AW08 show. The belt with a one shoulder strap has me thinking about the belt being used more as a garment than an accessory.
Finally we have the ‘Restraint’ line, probably the most intriguing out of the lot as whilst it’s described as the ‘epitome of luxury bondage’ and I’m not really into bondage gear, I love the extremity of the harnasses and accessories. The lookbook images here obviously are purposely provocative but again, out of that context and they become something else altogether…
I’ll find out for myself once and for all, what sort of Fleet Ilya girl I am as they’re holding a sample sale this weekend at Unit 8 Maun House,1 Dunn Street, London.

Wow, those bra-things are weird!
i’m slightly perturbed by how much i’m lusting after one of those harnesses…!
Kinky stuff! I like.
the third one from the bottom could result in some very painful injuries…..
No, no too weird.
i have to say, i’m really drawn to the restraint… i mean, it’s pretty crazy, but at the same time, it’s less crazy than you think. i don’tknow if that makes any sense.
Love the first pictures. I think that is still wearable. But the pictures after that aren’t really my thing
I love those oversized bags from the Classic line!
And I am drawn to the restraint line for some reason…it’s very unique, though.
have a weak spot for harnesses. these are particularly lovely.
Wow i love the big shopper bags but not to keen on the harnesses abit bondagey for me. I like the belts too but with the shoulder strap kinda makes it something else like a gun hlder or something!
I like some of their belts and the idea of the concept belts are quite cool. They look like body armour. The restraint line is too much though…still unconvinced about that one!
I love the harnesses. They look so awesome, something that you could pair with something really simple and have a breathtaking outfit.
ah how much do i want that top ‘restraint’ harness to wear over a floral dress!? i like.
Whoa it’s like Shera! I want I want I want.
the harnesses look like the ones police use to put their guns in. except they’re a tad kinkier.
I was thinking the same as a dreamer – they look like holsters, and I love them. The restraint shown in this context (with the large bag above) looks as though it could be used to attach the large bag to your front as a hands free method of carrying such a load.
I love the Shera comment! So true!
Ooo I saw Rosin Murphy wear the “The belt with a one shoulder strap” in concert and she pulled it off with much aplomb. As an Australian it actually reminded me alot of the Sydney opera house!
oooh i quite like those harnesses… i wonder if i could create one with some belts and links!
Those belts look amazing and i want one of those outstanding oversize bag.
Susie, what timing! I just picked up the pale green leather T suspender/belt/holster thing at Kokon to Zai this weekend (where they also have some one-off handmade pieces by a CSM graduate in which you might be interested…
Some of the harnesses are quite beautiful. Love it!
surprisingly, i’m most drawn to the harnesses! i think they’d be superb paired with a white button-down and skinny jeans.
I am loving all of her ‘accessories’, so directional!! Don’t know how I’d feel about wearing them, but they are so aesthetically pleasing. The conceptual range is incredibly similar to a small range I’m designing at the moment, but inspired by the paper collars of Egon Schiele – aparently when he was poor he used to cut out his collars out of stuff paper! Cx
*stiff paper.
Have to have the cream harness!! Its beautiful, i can think of a million and one things to wear it over!!

the harnesses do actually look a bit weird but the bags are the coolest!! I could put my whole room in that.. hmm
I like harnesses because they look like the shoulder holsters cops from 1970s movies wore. With that in mind, I’d pair them with a men’s dress shirt, brogues and wide leg trousers.
i love the wide belts! im so happy theyre in style now since i just got a similar one from shopgoldyn.com it’s absolutely amazing and the perfect accessory for an outfit
those belts are fantastic! nothing makes an outfit look more structured or chic, definitely.
the bags! i want the bags!
I cannot be a fan of those giant belts seeing as they make the woman look very much bound and chastened so that she looks a bit dug up from Dachau, which worries/disturbs me immensely.
On a lighter note, I must say that that first black boxy bag is something I would love to tote my art portfolio in!!

I love the harnesses! I saw that white one shoulder strap thing in an issue of Nylon ..I think. So hot!!
