Double Dutch

Vr1 I may have missed the opening night but a spectacular Viktor & Rolf dolls’ house will remain on exhibit until September and from these surreal yet wonderful images that Kate Rodgers shot for a special Dazed Digital feature (*nudge nudge wink wink*), I will make it my mission to see it all for myself even if I am slightly freaked out by the dolls’ faces.

Question, is replicating the contents of all of one’s wardrobe into miniature doll size version and then housing them in a doll’s house and dressing dolls in said outfits a supremely far fetched idea for a wardrobe memory jogging system?  For example, glancing at a doll in the house and then thinking to oneself ‘Oh yeah… I have that in my wardrobe!’.

Ok, just a crazy post 18.30 brain-frazzled idea of mine then…

  1. What a shame you missed it!
I’ve booked a visit for next saturday which im really looking forward to.
Also- in your post optitian post, are they the Viktor + Rolf eyelashes? How do they feel on? I liked the harlequin ones but i dont really want to buy them if they are going to hurt my eyes…

  2. I am definitely trekking out to see this one soon. such a awesome concept.
The doll house with your miniture wardrobe is a brilliant idea, but creepy too – I always read too many horror stories about dolls coming to life, and a house full of mini-me’s is slightly beyond ghoulish…

  3. oh my god. that is so amazing. i wish i had the time to make mini outfits for little dolls and put them on display as a way to remember what i own! hahah. i guess for now, a style diary/ blog is the best i can do.

  4. Crazy ideas like this make me want to be an installation artist. It’s so fun and exciting to create projects like this but if it’s not part of your existing lifestyle, where do you put it all?

  5. Oh my goodness. When you said dollhouse, this was not what I was thinking of. That’s breathtaking, amazing, and slightly creepy at the same time. I love it. Dolls weird me out too, but I think it would be fun to plan out outfits using little dolls as models.

  6. Wow! So many people get spooked by dolls. I recently saw “Dead Silence” again, so joining the gang, yes. I love the idea of dolls being wardrobe reminders.

  7. Dolls are in a place in my psyche where all scary things go. In this place they have many friends. Mannequins, clowns, ventriloquist dolls (the evilest of them!), birds and the movie A Clockwork Orange. I wish them all no good.

  8. I went to see the exhibition today, and really enjoyed it. Although, i have to say I felt quite scared looking around it, those dolls are creepy. Especially the life size ones.
    Clothes were fantastic (of course)

  9. Salut
