Where is Style Bytes?

People have been asking me about the whereabouts of Agathe at Style Bytes as her last post documented that she was off to Stockholm for the weekend and now it has almost been a month since her last post…

Unfortunately, I don’t have a clue where she is or what has happened to her.  I just know that I’m severely missing her stylishly executed outfits and amazing photography courtesy of her husband.  Alas, dear Style Salvage Steve (yes, it’s all out there, the boyf is a blogger too…) doesn’t have the same level of patience in the photography area (once a week is his tolerance level…) but he does take a nice shot or two…

It struck me that the outfit I donned yesterday complete with props donated by the boyf was a little subconsciously Agathe-inspired.  The SX70 camera, the brown box bag for the camera, the Linda Farrow for Topman glasses together with my newly thrifted John Richmond navy dress, Future Classics button down silk skirt and a vintage faux fur bolero which was acquired from The Coveted’s brand new Etsy vintage shop and the pointyness of some cacky-ASOS taupe patent shoes… somehow all fell into a bit of an Agathe style shot…except not quite at that exceptional Agathe-level of course…

I’m unable to trek it to Norway to go searching for Agathe but I’m willing for her return anyhow with this assembled outfit…

  3. I did a post about missing Agathe on my blog. I’m seriously worried about her. Hopefully she will blog soon or someone will get the real answer. I hope she is ok.

  8. I am missing her too! After 3 weeks of vacation all I wanted to do was to veg in front of the computer and OD on Style Bytes and Style Bubble but the expected posts weren’t there! ): Where is she?

Not to add fuel to the fire or come across looking like a complete nerdy stalker but I also noticed that she stopped moderating comments on the 28th April… no new comments have appeared since… she either has no ability to access the internet or she simply doesn’t want to touch her own blog… the plot thickens…

    agathe went to stockholm.
    there was no internet in the hotel.
    after a few hours of intense blog withdrawal
    symtoms, she found not posting every day
    actually quite pleasing.
    by day four, she never wanted to
    give up that freedom again,
    and lives happily ever after.
    hmmm.

  19. I’ve been concerned that I haven’t seen anything on Style Bytes in almost a month. I’m just assuming that A. is taking a month off.

  20. hmm… i was just about to ask you about agathe… well, she’s not dead or injured because she confirmed me as a friend on facebook a couple of days ago, she’s probably dealing with something as we all do from time to time.
    either that or hackers are holding her page hostage until she reveals the sources of all her great finds… oh wait that’s what the blog is about.
    hmm…

  25. such a close knit blogging community we all live in..I was also wondering about Agathe and told my husband just last night that I was worried about her. Glad to hear she’s okay for now..sometimes it’s nice to take an extended break.

    @enc But if she confirmed you on your facebook, it could be that she is taking a break on blogging and everything about it. Because she isn’t posting comments on other blogs.
    Well lets hope she will get beter/feel better/have internet/have the strenght etc. to come back again.

  28. Great to hear that from Lady Coveted — I wasn’t so much concerned about the blog as I was the fact that she hadn’t answered any emails from me or anyone else who tried. But phew, Facebook is a sign of life.

  30. I was feeling a little uneasy about Stylebytes not posting for so long, then I saw your post and got more worried! I just called Stephie and asked her about this – I think she thinks I’m a little mad 😛 But if she was on Facebook confirming friends just a couple of days ago, she must be fine! Maybe something technical went wrong? 🙂

  38. Guess I’m not the only one who got so worried. It didn’t seem like her, during all events in the past she always kept blogging. I even checked her husband’s blog, and found out it was replaced by another one (not that he blogged much). Thank goodness about the facebook thing, at least that means she’s still out there! Thanks for posting this Susie, and if you read this Agathe, I miss your posts and hope you and your family are all ok.

  70. The disappearance of Agathe has been on my mind too… I had only just discovered her blog a few weeks before the last post.
    As worrisome to me is the assumption that activity on Facebook is taken as confirmation of her being OK. If her computer was stolen it wouldn’t be too hard for someone to login to her Facebook profile and pose as her. For that matter does anyone know that her profile was genuine and not created by a fan/stalker?
    If she was OK it seems like she would give some small indication on the blog that she is alive… even if she doesn’t want to justify why she’s not blogging? If she’s online she’s got to know by now that people are freaking out about her being MIA?

I don’t want to sound like a stalker or something, but I think many of your readers are worrried because you posted almost every day and let us always know when you couldn’t post for a longer period. So it would be nice if you could write a little post about how you are and if you stop posting forever or if you take a break for 3 months.. just a little bit of information, 2-3 sentences would be enough.

  77. Ohh, I’ve been so worried about Agathe too. I’ve gone all stalkerish, searching the net left and right for signs of her whereabouts. I even sent her a message on Facebook (and I dont even know her. I said I was becoming stalkerish! :D) but no reply.
    Really hope she returns soon. Knowing how often she updated and all the readers she has, you would think she’d post a notice if she was taking a break?

  82. Its come to a point where its kind of getting annoying how she isn’t responding to any of us. Because she has been coming online (On Facebook,Phiary) so it’s not like she can’t reach the computer or her internet connection is messed up.
    Secondly, she came online yesterday on MSN, and when i asked her where she was she didnt reply. I was only being polite and as I’ve been concerned for the past couple of weeks and just wanted to know if she was ok. I asked a couple of times if she was ok and eventhough she was online for a good 4/5 hours, she didnt reply.
    Its just slightly disappointing cause we all would like to know if she’s ok, n knowing her fanbase she should have let us know

  86. I guess it tells us something about Agathe that she drops disappears into a black hole. Pretty irresponsible behavior if you ask me. All she had to do was post and say “I’m not doing this anymore.” It’s what you call passive behavior.

  87. A Tribute to Agathe
    I was one of those people missing her blog. It got me thinking about this phenomenon of her’s.
    I think she was kind of Carrie Bradshaw of blogosphere: very relatable, girl just
    like us living this fantasy under our eyes. She was getting better and better. She definitely ended it at her high-point. Maybe it all was too good to be true.
    Like she said in the comments department, she choose not to concentrate on her career, otherwise she would not have time for this beautiful life she lived. She was a feminist phenomenon, choosing herself to live like she did, being pretty, cooking etc. That’s why she was such and inspiration to all of us, she lived a life
    we do not have time for. Because of our jobs and our careers.
    Maybe this abrupt end was inevitable: she was so open about her personal
    life. But because of that, I liked her. She was a virtual
    girlfriend, she was there. Every day.
    I liked her posts about jewellery the most. I found some very special things thanks to her.
    And I wanted to say thank you, Agathe, for being a true inspiration, for sharing your life as long as you did. For living a life I do not have time for. and good luck!
    This is the end of an era. The stylebytes obsession is officially over.
