I must be regressing back to my messy state of youth seeing as I have to painfully to tell you that the shoes that I now wear the most are…. my light grey Converse high tops. I only say the ‘most’ only because I’m doing a lot of trekking around these days and they come with me in a canvas tote whenever I have to slip off the heels to do some serious pounding. So when I came across these Adidas Consortium Superskates, it did make me think about investing in a pair of shoes that I’d actually get a lot of practical wear out of. Yes, it is unfortunate that it isn’t just about the fantastical two wear shoe-buys with me… but look at the wonderful flaps of colours…
These feature a very unique and enticing palette of colours in the layered mid-section of the shoe that immediately bring to mind a similar colour contrast seen in Louise Markey’s Central St Martins MA collection that I simply can’t erase from my mind. All the more reason to support her as she is in the final four of this year’s Fashion Fringe competition. I don’t usually play favourites before these things but I am definitely looking forward to seeing what Markey produces for the show in September the most.
There’s also reminders of that sane ice cream rainbow of colours that I encountered when I went to Broadstairs’ Morelli’s ice cream parlour which is quite simply a valuable bit of kitsch that should be preserved in all its pastel glory….
Sadly, as with most of these street-y/sneaker-related things, I’m just always too late in the game with the likes of Hypebeast and Sneakernews being quick off the mark to write about them, they have sold out on the Japanese (of course…) onliine stockist of Hangtime. Ah well, if I’m going to get back into the sneaker swing of things, I’ll have to be more dilligent about it…. or I could just save the pennies and continue my only-Converse trainer rule…

Clothing should always remind us of ice-cream…

i seem to be in flats ALL the time at the moment. so strange after averaging only a couple of days a month sans heels until very recently. i’m not sure why, but i think it’s a seasonal thing.
i still don’t really do trainers, but these are lovely. i’m also a fan of many of the nike blazer mids. definitely not in touch with what’s what trainer land.
Come over to the dark side of Adidas Susie, you’ll love it… (Though that pair is a little too white for me, I’d trash them in about 2 days)
I do the same thing – at the mo i have a pair of jelly shoes (¬£8 Newlook) that i adore and they’re so comfy and little that they fit perfectly into my bag, when it rains i have a pair of rocket dog mini rain boots that are comfy and dry…ahhh relief when walking.
I’m constantly in flats as well as converse being my trainer of choice! I love those Adidas sneakers, they’re really great!
not really my cup of tea…I’d rather wear flats instead of sneakers, they make me look frumpy, dosnt matter what else I’m wearing for some reason!
Love the colours but don’t like the look of those trainers. I am not a huge trainer fan but I have recently invested in a pair of converse (yellow and grey flower pattern). Still working out how to wear them as I can’t escape the notion that they are a bit frumpy with a skirt.
i so want to run my fingers over those shoes! trainers would be totally out of my comfort zone though, but maybe that’s an incentive?
I love the sneakers, and I like that the colours are actually sperate panels, as I thought it was just a printed detail at first. I think if they are restocked, you should invest.
Those adidas’s are too cool! omg they don’t even look like a pair of adi kicks.
I hate wearing sneakers except to the gym, but those rainbow ones are quite spiffy!
they look like gills on fish, but they still are pretty! 😀
These sneakers are sooooooo cute. I would definetely wear them (if I could find a store where they are selling them).
I am a huge fan of Adidas and Puma, so they are just for me.
those shoes would brighten up anyone’s day!
you need a pair of Dunlop Volleys…that should fix you good and proper!
I live in my Nike 6.0’s at the moment. I seem to be able to get so much more done than when I’m wearing heels. Those Adidas trainers are lovely, it’s such a shame they are all sold out.
I love Morelli’s and nice trainers too…
what a shame, those are really fantastic!
Beautiful beautiful shoes…unisex me thinks! Hell I don’t care, if they had them in my size I’d get some – the perfect summer staple shoe. I have to admit (whether it be I’m a man, skint or just rubbish with shoes) I am a sucker for a trusty few pairs of trainers/shoes that then get battered beyond belief (through pure love of course). On my feet right now are some black Puma Baskets, a mixture of leather and suede with flouro pink laces! Cx
I love the panels on that first pair, but they’re too white for my comfort- unless one likes the scuffy look that is, for some reason I don’t mind white keds or converse getting mucky. I’m a bit of a trainer fan (still stuck in student-hood, so comfiness matters), they’re just so convenient..
i’m definitely liking those trainers even though they aren’t something i’d normally go for. am more often than not found in a pair of converse.
used to spend all summer in broadstairs as a child, and ate far too much ice cream in morelli’s – absolute heaven!
They’re brilliant, alright. I bet they’d work with most of your things.
they remind me of giant icecream dresses. yum
I’ve always been a Converse devotee myself but OMFG! I think I’m in love!!!!!!!! Susie, please tell me: where, oh, where can I find those trainers?!!!!!
Thanks for sharing this post
Ah well, if I’m going to get back into the sneaker swing of things, and so keep on posting.
