Gaga for Malababa

malababa.jpg

I have no idea what I’m doing when I’m roaming around YouHeShe.com, a Danish fashion online boutique but I just click randomly and hope for the best.  Today, I clicked and clicked and in a sort of blind clicking frenzy, I stumbled on these headbands by Spanish accessories label Malababa.  I’ve long had an attachment to fabric ruched flowers but I’ve yet to come across leather ruched flowers and in these pastel shades no less…

It’s just a contradiction on all accounts leather, the pastels and the ruched flowers but I’m loving it all the same and from my stumbling around, I gather that YouHeShe does ship internationally as well…. now….how to figure out the ordering process without somehow ordering the whole bloody site….

  1. Hey if you need translation help… I’m a half-danish reader of yours and would be glad to help πŸ˜‰ i don’t think i could pull them off, but they’re really cute!

  2. Hi, you can also translate the pages with altavista bubble fish translator. just post the link and it does the job.

  3. The text is kind of silly:
    “Amazingly pretty hair-band from the spanish brand Malababa. The band is very skinny and has two delicate flowers in one side. A little one and a big one. The colourful flowers are handmade of the softest leather. It gives a raw contrat to the feminimity. Complete you look and use the fabulous hairband with jeans and a tanktop. Or give your evening outfit an extra colourful something.
    * Size: OneSize
    * Material: 100% leather
    * Colours: yellow, lillac, turcoise, pink
    * Detalis: skinny, two leather flowers.
    And “L√¢g i kurven” means “put it in the basket”.
    I hope that helped! πŸ™‚

  5. shopbop.com sells malababa – and ships international. they have good sales too.

  6. These are really easy to make – just a fabric circle, you hand stitch a hem around the edge and pull tight as you go, then flatten with an iron. If you don’t want to worry about unravelling edges, use ribbon. Take a wide ribbon, stitch along one edge, pull stitches to gather, and stitch the two ends together. I have a book with patterns from the 70’s to make skirts,vests and halters from these things, happy to scan if you want!

  7. I love those and that necklace on etsy! Such pretty colors and so clever!
    I want an all yo-yo quilt, but would never have the time to make it.

  8. Oh dear…that translation is rather hilarious…but I’m still hankering after it – thanks for the help you pretty Danish ppl…
    Enc: Macaroons is exactly how I’d liken them
    Violetwired: That sounds easy enough to do with fabric but what about with leather…I don’t have an industrial type sewing machine…

  9. you can do it with leather by hand too, you just need a glovers needle from a craft shop (has kind of a super sharp diamond shaped tip to go through leather easily), a thimble and thicker thread. If you try it, use soft leather and be careful with the needle!! The good thing about making these little circles, is you don’t really need to sew much – just a small row of stitches to gather.

  10. Shopbop.com sells malababa also. I don’t know if they have headbands, but definitly rings.
