I’m probably the last sort of person that Smythson want polluting their stores and it’s true, I’ve never ventured into any of their stores or bought into the whole ‘Oh my god! You absolutely must have a Smythson diary. It simply must be done!’ thang….
However, I am rather smitten by their Nancy clutch bags that are made entirely of beautiful grosgrain fabric (I’m STILL stuck on the idea of dresses made completely of grosgrain….) with a quilted pattern and a large plastic frame that gives it a sort of bulbous shape that means it’s slightly larger than an evening clutch. If you covered up the Smythson logo at the bototm, I would not have guessed that these clutches hailed from this rather austere, British brand… I’m not smitten by the price though of ¬£425…
Still the image of those traffic light coloured grosgrain clutches has been haunting me and in a sort of clutch-search frenzy, I present you the second rate collages of traffic light clutches….

i seriously can’t go out with a clutch, i loose it and can’t dance holding one and end up dropping it so much argh! oh the pain of gorgeous clutches i will never own.
This bag has been around for a while, but I am glad they brought out these ‘traffic light’ colours. The black and beige were a tad dull.
¬£825 for grosgrain and plastic?? The style is cute but it would a lot more that cute to convince me to splash out on one! I recently came around to using a clutch, it wasn’t the pain to carry I thought it would be. But I haven’t brought one to a night out yet which is the real test!
yeah I always felt the smythson bags were horribly overpriced for the market they are competing in. I understand why they are pricing aggressively but i don’t know how many they are actually shifting. Anyway I have one of the topshop clutches from a couple years ago in the crayola colors (i believe you even blogged about it….) which fits this spot on
