My affection for the often quirkily Bernhard Willhelm sunnies probably stems from the fact that I find that with my somewhat blank expression on my face, a normal pair of sunglasses can make me look haughty/snooty/stuck-up which I’m absolutely not! Some people even like giving off that impression when they don their sunglasses…
So I’d rather wear sunglasses with some comedy value so that people can see a girl with the crazy glasses as opposed to girl with an attitude problem. Better to be perceived as a bit of a fruitloop than a bitch in my book…. My visor ones have served me well and I’m thinking over the ‘nose’ ones, but surprisingly Topman have presented me with an alternative option.
Bernhard Willhelm has paired up with Topman for these slightly warped looking thick perspex sunnies and I have no qualms about fighting the boyf and other males for them when they go on sale at the beginning of April…
the shape of these remind me of some i had when i was about 14. they were pink plastic frames though, not clear perspex. also from topshop.
unfortunately i threw them on stage at a manic street preachers gig. never saw them again, though i always hoped to spot nicky wire wearing them.
Funnily enough Topman is one of those places I never bother to look at, but with those sunnies I’ll have to venture in!
i find Topman have better accessories than Topshop. those glasses are cool in a way it’s not TOO quirky for my taste.
but i guess i am a bit of a fruitloop sometimes too because i love my paint splattered wayfarers i found in a charity shop in Toronto.
people often ask me if i can see in them. of course i can! if i cant why would i wear them. silly question. if you notice, the center of the lens is free of splatter and that is where the eye is.
it’s such a simple idea to make your sunnies less boring but thank goodness i havent seen another with paint splattered sunnies.

those are cool. the “nose” ones are too crazy for me, i don’t think i’d have the courage to wear them ^^ i have huge sunglasses with white frames which i absolutely adore.
that photo is hilarious! 😀
Can I have these please? Thanks. x
Ah, yes, the arrogant bitch look caused by sunglasses, generally black ones.
SB, I was standing outside a theatre once, in a difficult area of town, waiting for friends. Black sunglasses, black suit, black stilettos. Up comes some man about a foot shorter than I am, looks me up and down and says:
“How does it feel to inhabit the land of the pompous?”
Hey Susie! Just wanted to say I love your blog. I used to study at Pembroke at Cambridge and I miss everything about England since.
I love those.
I too will have to venture up to london to grab myself a pair…may the best man win Susie…lol.any idea of the potential price? xx
They really are fabulous! I always struggle with sunglasses for the same reason…but yes! Quirky sunglasses may be the way to go!
oh man that’s some seriously cool sunnies!! i love it!! but they don’t have topman here in new york! well, they do sell in “opening ceremony”… but i wonder if they’ll bring these sunnies in. i want!!
