Quite a random find but whilst moo-ing about on YouTube, looking for Erin Fetherston/Ellen Von Unworth’s new collaborative film ‘The Dreamy Wander’ featuring Zooey Deschanel (do let me know if you find it!), I came across this semi hilarious/semi serious review of issue 5 of Lula magazine (the one with Kirsten Dunst on the cover) which basically heaps a lot of praise on the mag. I haven’t a clue who the girl is of course but it did get me thinking whether regular video reviews of this nature would be a useful addition to the blog. Except I’m rubbish on video and have a complete lack of verbal presentation skills. But, overlooking those minor details, in this age of 5-20 quid mags, it might take a certain video orientated push to convince people to fork over their money. Just to note, if I ever did venture into video magazine reviewing, less gushing would be in order…

Hm. I don’t know if I like THIS particular video review, but I love the idea of video magazine reviews in general. I do consider doing something like that on F&ART…
I think such vid reviews from you would be fascinating (and not just because we’re dying to hear your accent…well, that’s a bald-faced lie) and seriously useful; you’re absolutely right that with the high cost of mags, an informed peek inside would help with the decision where to direct our ever-less-valuable bucks!
Haha, I was expecting a tribute video with music an everything!
I eagerly await Bubble TV!
oh miss bubble you have to take a leaf and do this too!
So many ways to execute this:
a. video + soundtrack + text
b. video + silence (but the whispers of fabric movement and shoe stomping)
c. video + holding up giant signs for notes and credits
d. slideshows
e. animated gifs
I can’t wait to see!
Where can you buy Lula in London? I looked on their website for stockists but…maybe I missed it! x
How bizarre!
I do rather love this concept though.
Funnily enough after viewing a great homemade video on thatschic.blogspot.com, I got thinking about homemade blog videos and I do think they’re a great fresh idea.
Go for it, I’m sure you can execute yours in a more natural way that doesn’t show your pupils following an autocue!
Cute nontheless.
PS, What ISs it that Americans have against Kiki? I love her..
I just wanted to alert you that there is someone selling those tata naka shoes you so loved on ebay(from the us). I would be placing a bid but alas my size 42 feet are just too big
i think this is a lovely idea. your accent is most likely a lot more charming than the authors. you should choose obscure magazines/books because with your readership/influence im sure you could really help them out!
xoxo
bring on the video reviews!
not pressuring u do dedicate anymore time to the blog than you already are but…
Please?
Yea, may be this video review isn’t exactly spectacular, but now I’ve been introduced to Lula!
i wish we had Lula in our country.
This women is kind of amazing.
I quite like Zooey D. I have to say for Fetherston, that I expected a lot more from her I think than what she has been putting out lately.
I think I’d like to see you doing this kind of thing. You could script yourself, and see how it goes with a camera and tripod. Try it, won’t you?
I loved this video. . . I love seeing people gush about the things they love. . .
That girl is amazing. That was so sweet and funny.
The girl in the video is awesome 😀
B, you can find Lula at ArtWords bookshop in Shoreditch (that’s where i found my kirsten dunst edition several months ago, anyway!), http://www.artwords.co.uk : )
