Happy Dye

HappydyeI think people are getting to know me too well as this t-shirt clearly demonstrates.  It was sent by Dree from Urban Collection (are you gutted that their latest SS08 offerings have sold out like hot potatoes… I am…)  who added a message ‘It’s a pretty random piece but of all people, I thought you could rock it!’.

Translation: This is an ugly piece of crap but you are known to make bits of crap work on some level, so here you go!

Well thank you Dree, because sure enough this olive and peach paint splatter/tie dye t-shirt so very much reminds me of Emma Cook’s latest collection and when combined with my other bits of tie dye and more peach, I’m one happy crap-laden girl.

  1. You look great, it’s loads of ugly-beautiful pieces. Pieces that are so ugly they become beautiful, like boston terrier dogs, bubble hems, etc.
The sugar crystals form in special conditions, then the “jewelry” is removed and stops growing, and it does eventually disintegrate probably depending on humidity and body heat.

  2. I love how you do outfits using the same pattern/color repeatedly, yet they look anything but basic/typical! I bet you could work anything.

  3. is it weird that i’m reminded of Prada ss08 when i look at your outfit… maybe it’s the shoes? it’s kind of a crazy outfit a lot going on but i like it a lot!!

  4. one woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure! i love the peach and olive, i think peach looks really good with your dark hair

  5. I think that’s part of the allure of your style, you take the most unlikely items and combinations and turn them into something completely different and unexpected. Something that rocks! I’m loving the peach, black and grey combination.

  6. As many have mentioned before it’s actually very cool, I would have not thought twice about this piece if I had not seen it so put together on you!!! It’s very hippie-chic, and those shoes are to die for, and the headband, and pink ruffle peeking out, and….

  7. why call it crap? pretty rude i have to say. someone designed it. i know you yourself like it(enough to wear it)but do you not think that your little ‘translation’ comment could be perceived as rather offensive?

  8. Anon: Well… it is a general consensus, with heavy emphasis on the ‘general’ that tie dye/hypercolour t-shirts aren’t the most desirable of items… and whilst someone may have designed it, though I suspect the lack of tags on it suggest a home dye jobbie… I think I was just going with the GENERAL consensus that on its own, it would look like a piece of random tat…. more emphasis on ‘random’ as opposed to tat…. a lot of my clothes do look like that to a lot of people… it’s no bad thing!
