Unrepetitive Repetto

Rep1_2  Whilst the website still asserts the fact that Repetto does cater to the ballerina (love the French dance instructions as you play through the acts) the range of the brand’s products suggests otherwise.  At the Rainbowwave show room, though I wasn’t supposed to be looking at Repetto, my eyes still got diverted by an entire case of Repetto.  Ballet flats aside, there were roomy slouchy bags, shoe-boots, brogues and T-bar heels.  It wasn’t just the shapes but the sheer number of materials and colours.  Does make you go into Argos Catalogue-toy-section-browsing mode where you just go…. ‘I want that one, that one and that one!’.

Balletshoes On a ballet-related note, was I the only one who got much toffee-sweet pleasure out of watching the BBC adaptation of Noel Streathfield’s Ballet Shoes, starring Emma Watson and Emilia Fox last Christmas?  Note to self: Must find faded floral tea dress that I have either left at my mum’s house or in a hotel in Paris…. oh well, if I go to Paris and retrieve the dress and pick up a pair of Repetto’s then it would be the perfect conclusion to this post…

  1. wow i always love a good bbc special/costume drama. repetto’s main site is awesome…

  2. Oh my…I wish we had a Repetto here too..and I rather liked Ballet Shoes (via illegal YouTube clips)- you definitely weren’t alone in liking it!

  3. I loved Ballet Shoes too, although I think that may have something to do with a bit of a unhealthy obsession with Emma Watson and her clothes/the way she’s been styled in past photo shoots. That part of the film makes me want to decorate my room with old faded bunting and prance around in a floral tea dress, with the feather headdress too of course. I loved the movie premiere in the film too- that velvet blue dress that Emma wore was amazing.. oh dear, I think I’ve gushed a little too much..

  4. The Clothes Horse: don’t watch the movie! It was one of my firm favourites as a little girl and I made the msitake of re-reading for the twentieth time at Christmas before I saw the movie. It’s not the being 100% true to the story that I get cross at: a movie is an interpretation of a book and I can understand that. BUT! They wrote in a whole weird love plot between Garnie and the man with the car (cutting out his wife altogether) and it was very odd. I was NOT impressed. If the book wasn’t important to you then I can see that it would have been a charming movie.

  5. Amy May: I agree that it wasn’t faithful to the book (oh jeez… the ‘adaptation vs. book discussion…) but I think the film still captured the essence of the three sisters’ relationship… I was confused by the Garnie love plot as well….

  6. My friend was an AD on Ballet Shoes and they only cast the girls at the very, VERY last minute, as they cldn’t find any young actresses with RP ( received pronunication accents, what is sometimes called Queen’s English or just plain posh). Everyone they auditioned spoke estuary English. LLG xx

  7. All those shoes are beautiful. I’ve always known about them, and though I’ve never had any, nor tried any on, I will be looking out for them in the future.

  8. The shoes look amazing and the argos comparison is funny, I used to always read it backwards because the toys were at the back!

  9. Now, when I grow up, I want to have a shoe-rack FILLED with Repetto goodies like the one pictured in your post!

  10. Oh no, you weren’t the only one watching Ballet shoes for the clothes!! My sister and I were so excited when we saw the adverts coming up to christmas time and afterwards totally wanted floral dresses and chunky knit cardigans…Oh and to live in that house and possibly to get acting work that easily!!!
Ps. Love the backgrounds to a previous post – the material and colours…very inspiring xx
