(Wonderful backstage photography by Karl Rothenberg)
Is it really wrong to play with a person’s name in the way that I do with designer Benjamin Cho’s name? It might seem that I post about his collections for the sake of funny post titles but in all honesty, there really are only a handful of designers I look forward to seeing at New York and he is most definitely one of them. He continued his exploration of knotting, macrame and embroidery techniques with the Cho touches of surrealism from gigantic floral petal dresses to horse headed ladies with a knitted train. I won’t be overly praising as I feel there isn’t so much of a progression this time round but I am intrigued by this backstage picture of the shoes. Could I possibly grab some holographic stick back plastic and wrap it around some old pumps and wear them with some level of seriousness? To Paperchase I go when I get back to London tomorrow… (yes this tech-injury-ridden trip has ended and with some relief, I am flying home tonight…).

love the shoes! love the dress you picked for the gucci event! feel soo terrible for you about your camera…i did that with a new paire of pants the other day but i know it’s not quite the same thing…
I think of you cut the holographic sticky paper into different sized strips and carefully laid them on the shoes, and then finished it off with a protective clear coat of acrylic varnish or shellac it would be great!
God, I’ve just gone over to style.com and I’m OBSESSED. A woollen stag’s head AND a perfectly cut plain black top and trouser combo? This is all going in my special fashion pictures folder. Thanks for alerting me to this!
Becky.
I’ve never contemplate the possibility of hologram shoes until now..how I want a pair.
Susie, do you think you’d ever contemplate writing a post on how to start building your wardrobe, for people who are just getting into fashion? I’ve been interested in fashion for quite some time but I’ve really gotten into it since I’ve started reading your blog, amongst others. I seriously want to start reinventing my own closet but I don’t know where to start. I’ve had several huge clean outs which have basically left me with the basics (a Primark smock top, a cropped cardigan from New Look, several tops from H&M purchased in the early noughties.. see how bad my situation is!) and now I’m looking to start filling it again. I really don’t know where to begin though. Do you have any tips? Also, would you be willing to do a post on putting outfits together? I love the way you style your outfits, and though I’m fully capable of recognizing what I think to be good and criticizing what I think could be improved, I’ll be damned if I can actually put an outfit together myself that looks better than any average shop mannequin. I know I would appreciate the time and effort it would take to make this post, as would I’m sure, many other readers who would like to understand style and fashion that little bit more.
i guess it’s ok you played with benjamin cho’s name like that, as long as you don’t do it in front of him…^^
ah and i bet you could make some holographic pumps yourself. like sara said, you’d just need to put on some varnish or something so that the holographic plastic or sticky paper doesn’t fall off. I’d be curious to see your pimped shoes, if you’ll do it!
I’ve just read about your camera, it sucks. I lost mine too (2 weeks ago on a trip), well i’m actually not very sure about what happenned, but i believe it was stolen from my hotel room when i stupidly left my bag on the bed and went out =L

Run the experiment! I can’t wait to see the results!
I love the blue flower petal dress, and I could see the holographic shoes working out well, but definetly proceed with caution, diy could go terribly wrong too.
Oh my, those shoes look good enough to eat…
cho’s designs are too cool to be true. greets *FLORA
I absolutely loved cho’s show. the big added flowers and sending down a model with a horse on her head. absolute genius
Cho was rather visually satisfying, I thought. Not astounding, thrilling or riveting but pleasingly satisfying.
And Daul Kim looked top there too.

Cute shoes!
I too like the photographs, I tried to google the photographer and I think you meant Karl Rothenberger ( not Rothenberg).
