Super Scholls

Super Scholls

Don’t shoot me but I’ve never been into the supposed SUPER comfort footwear brands that will have people forming waiting lists for shoes that are essentially (and in my opinion only!) NOT aesthetically pleasing.  Uggs, Crocs, Birkenstocks…. nope, never got the appeal.  Perhaps I’m not feeling the pain that everyone else is with their footwear.  Dr Scholl‘s is an exception in that though it hasn’t touched the level of popularist mass appeal that the other brands have, I have grown up with it (mother has a penchant for the wooden sandals…) yet also disregarded it for the reason that again, my feet aren’t prone to pain.

So my peepers had to be checked and re-checked when I saw this Scholl advert in Pop magazine, showcasing a limited pair of Scholls designed by Diego Dolcini who has been busy helping Scholl (the name is now shortened for rebranding…) to up the fashionability of these beloved sandals.   It doesn’t surprise me that Dolcini has a degree in architectural studies because he has created a striking shape aided by the contrast between the delicate perspex and chunky straps.  Adding a partial perspex wedge and rejigging the straps whilst retaining those recongisable fastenings seems to have achieved a shoe that I’m now predictably coveting.  Or is it the block coloured styling with the shoe that also makes them beautifulL  I may be buying my first pair of "comfort" shoes very soon….(note the inverted commas…)

    WOW! LOVE!
I think it might be the awesome tights which make them so amazing. Advertising doing it’s job once again.
p.s. I agree with everything in this post *except* you’re wrong about uggs! They are bliss, nothing will ever feel as good as slipping cold feet into your ugh boots! (Only when alone, of course, and never worn outside the house).

these look amazing, but from the picture it’s hard to tell what is the tights and what is the shoes – and that’s very annoying. still, i love the heel!

I wondered if you had heard of Chie Mihara shoes ( she makes some really beautiful shoes which are apparently also comfortable as she studied orthopeadics. Toast sometimes sells her shoes on their website.

I have to admit that while I’m looking at the shoe, I’m mostly thinking about the perfect colour combination that is bright orange, navy blue, silver and white. It’s a bit genius.

Curl up in a pair of uggs and your opinion could just waver.

Yes yes I agree, Crocs are the devil’s spawn. I will never understand why (A)People who typically wear cookie cutter matching outfits will simply fawn over clunky (and let’s be honest, dorky) shoes, and (B)The people of “UGG Nation” have no problem with looking exactly like everyone else. Thank God for Susie Bubble and her growing nation of individualistics.

I dunno. I hate Uggs, crocs and Birkenstocks but something made me buy red clogs last year and I’m kind of loving them. But only with a VERY classic jeans n tee outfit. Didn’t know Chie Mihara studied orthopeadics…love her work!
