I’m in a bit of a delicate state at the moment anf flicking through ‘in yer face’ images will send my head spinning. Therefore, browsing through the latest issue of Sesame, an online magazine that hails from Australia that I talked about a while backk, whilst drinking a mug of hot water and lemon is soothing on many levels. Even the accompanying xylophone noises as you navigate the issue is lifting me up a little. It’s as whimsical as ever with editorials that sing rather than shout.
I could definitely do with some time floating about in the sunshine in this Aurelio Costarella dress with a braid across my forehead…
…or swimming underwater and being photographed beautifully by Alejandro Rolandi….
…or constructing this 70’s animation-style cardboard ship at sea scene complete with buried treasure glinting amongst all that brown card.
I especially am in love with the illustrations of Catherine Campbell which again served as some form of a hangover cure as her portfolio of ink and watercolour illustrations combined with collage effects are delicate, pretty yet not overly so.

Some people drink bloody marys, I like pretty pictures…

That Rolandi photograph is just a dream for a parched body! How exquisite.
We leave it to you, Susie, hangover or not, to bring us the esoterica that we might not otherwise have seen. I for one feel more literate for it. Thanks!
I agree with Suzanna- and the Rolandi photograph is wonderful, it reminds me of mermaids. And I love the illustrations, thanks for giving me Catherine Campbell to add to the illustrators section of my sidebar!
I wore an insanely beautiful Aurelio Costello dress for a shoot a few months ago, but this one is even prettier- so gorgeous…
Love your blog, girl! I’m from Sweden and it’s really fun to see how English fashion is like compare to Swedish. Happy new year by the way!
susie
i think you are a great writer and I just love your blog but I am a stickler for grammar and want to tell you…
it is ’70s
not 70’s
the apostrophe always goes before the number because you are replacing the missing 19 – not adding it for the s.
you dig?
keep up the good work. just change that one little thing. make it your new years resolution for 2008.
hot water and lemon yesyesyes
this post came in good time!
ahhhh braids across foreheads….
for some reason they always make me feel happy, excpet for when Sienna Miller has them.
did you see the fontaine anderson illustrations? it’s given me inspiration for a new tattoo!
thanks for introducing yet another great online read by the way!
Gorgeous pictures. I wonder how long it takes to create a cardboard diorama of the sea? And what one would do with such a creation…
Love that illustration. Have you heard of Frankie magazine, Susie? Please tell me you haven’t! I saw it in Borders and want to do a post on it, and I’ll be jolly displeased if I find you’ve discovered it already!
Mommy grammar… I’ll remember that and will correct that…
Rollergirl: Yes I have discovered Frankie sadly..sorry! It’s one of the few great mags I can get my mitts on when I’m over in HK…
Must go look at more Rolandi photographs now…
I have only commented once before on here Susie (although I am a daily reader) but I felt compelled to comment on this as the Catherine Campbell Illustration is for my friends Luke Sales and Anna Plunketts up and coming Aussie label Romance was Born… they’re fantastic, really talented and hard working and I highly recommend checking them out!

oriental is an incorrect classification. the orient technically covers everything middle east (turkey) onwards till the eastern edge of asia. india, afghanistan, etc. are also considered part of the orient.
