I’m not sure how happy Vogue would be to see their covers distorted in this way but the artist Shane Bradford has added a beautiful sort of imperfection to the covers by applying his well-known paint dripping techniques to two British Vogue covers. I’m not particularly precious about ruining supposed iconic covers so to see them dripping with candy striped paint gives them a much needed ‘messing up of perfection’, creating a different kind of beauty. The creased effect that Bradford has rendered reminds me of the way I used to concertina-fold magazine pages and make collages with them on canvas.

They’re both on display at Rod Barton Invites gallery as part of the Rainbow Straightener exhibition for two measly days.

Quite amazing pieces of art if you ask me. Thats cool, Im sure the Vogue guys wont mind.
i think it’s a cool piece of art as well. and i wouldn’t mind if the vogue guys minded, i’m not particularly keen on vogue ^^ i like natalia vodianova though.
Nice!
I’d be more cavalier about defacing my own magazine covers if I knew the results could be that cool 🙂
What I like about these covers (and the right one in particular) is how easy it would be to transition into something trendier and provocative, even if in a much smaller way.
Except it ain’t gonna happen. We do not provoke! One does not deface fashion’s Bible, covers of which have not evolved tremendously since the seventies. Seeing these reminds me of how conservative cover design really is.
Those are stunning. I’m sure not even Vogue would mind free advertising…right?
They look great to me.
Well well…it seems British Vogue was a credible magazine at some point in time.
Susie! How I have missed reading your daily musings, rants, raves and reviews! I must thank you sincerely for tagging me with the Thinking Blogger Award, I fear I appear quaint but it’s a little honour!
/DCB.
i wish more magazine covers looked like this!
I went to view the exhibition at the gallery and they look better in real life! Great work.
shane has a website where you can follow day after day the progress on his current pieces: http://shanebradford.com/
I haven’t started looking yet, but those are for all on my register to see!! I’ve heard they’re magnificent
Although dressing nicer is getting more in fashion with guys these days, I don’t be informed if I would like a chap engaging more time into shopping and creating a wardrobe than me. I contemplate that the furthest you should be appropriate is buying nice things, If a dude makes it sound like he planned his tackle the epoch preceding the time when, it kinda loses gimcrack (for a lack of a excel term). But i bear nothign against metrosexuals in shared, and kindly after the guys who are.
