Again…every little helps!

prisk1.jpg

I am masquerading under the pretense of doing things in the spirit of all things sustainable/eco/green/non-wasteful, when really, I’m just having a good rummage and wanting to pinch the pennies in lieu of my trip to New York, I’m just doing some ‘wardrobe scratching’ (similar to scratching one’s head for ideas except the clothes quite literally fall on your head and hopefully hit you with something remotely useful).  Well the bloody Primark jacket that I customised a while back kept on falling out of my wardrobe on top of my head (doesn’t help when you’re Mardy Grouch like I am in the mornings….).  Now, I never get angry at my clothes and I love each item ever so dearly so I reasoned to myself that the jacket must have been pissed off for its lack of use and decided to take its revenge by constantly plopping on my head.  However I simply can’t be swinging about in white ruffles all the time.  So the white ruffled extension piece belted up as a skirt with leggings/opaque tights hopefully means a truce can be called.  Peace is restored and there is no more need for the squabbling between woman and jacket.

  1. wow, that looks really great. The way you are wearing the ruffly extension and collar piece look very haute couture in the best possible way.

  2. i LOVE how doll-like you look! good job on taking fashion risks and totally pulling it off.

  3. Gorgeous outfit! I agree it does look couture–there’s something close to artistry in the pieces, the shapes and folds. I also like the color palette. I’m glad I’m not the only one who believes my clothes have minds of their own and get jealous when I abandon them…

  4. great outfit! YAY i can see your pretty eyes!!!, now dont get me wrong, your bangs are amazing, but in pictures they always hide your eyes.haha.
are those leggings the matte’ lame’ ones from American Apparel? or something similar to those?
i am dyeing to get my hands on a pair. i hope they turn out like im hoping!

  5. i loveee it. it’s such a clever idea and you pull it off so well. you have a very unique style, which is why i love it when you post your outfits.

  6. I love the mild ‘period’ reference in the ruffles and the neckpiece…and I’ve given you the You Make My Day award, it’s a tag of sorts 🙂

  7. i am obsessed! this is outstanding! i wish i had your amazing ability to think up such incredible outfits and to use clothing in ways other than that for which they were intended. i am seething with jealousy lol!!! but how long does it seriously take you to think up things that cool? it takes me almost an hour at times and i don’t look half as good as you do!!

  8. it’s amazing how you turned that white ruffled jacket into a skirt! I’m sure it’s very cute and artistic as a jacket too, but even more “couture” as a skirt.
I am very “grouch” in the mornings too ^^…

  9. i am still awonder at the bravado of wearing those ruffles, if it were me i would be entirely engrossed in trying to stop them swing about.
p.s i got hit by my handbag once when opening the closet door, i gave it a good telling off and shoved it back on the shelf 😛

  10. You know what caught my eye here?
The leggings and shoes. It’s the way that the leggings cover ankles and heels and come forward onto the foot. The leggings then draw attention to the forward progression of the sandal straps and make the sandal have more consequence and possibility than it would have without this focal point. It was quite a brill detail!
Now I sound as if I have a fetish of some sort, seeing as how I took time to closely analyze it before the skirt stand-in.

  11. ah…and to address the author of this post…Susie! fab idea. i’ve always loved this white ruffled piece of yours, whether as part of the jacket or in this current incarnation.
but…you are not really “masquerading under the pretense of doing things in the spirit of all things sustainable/eco/green/non-wasteful”…are you?? ’tis a joke, i’m sure…

  12. Dreamecho: Ha you remember my posts better than I do!
Suzanna: I pull them down to extend my legs a wee longer…. vanity trick….!
Enc: Those are the 4 quid shoes….
I was going for some period references… only subtle ones. I’m also wearing a shirt that I tea-stained myself as well… again, there is a post about that somewhere….
