The Price is Now Rite

I’m not going to bore you with all the Christmas sales insanity/mess that is occuring in the UK at the moment except that I found it a tad disturbing that a woman proudly holding five designer handbags she had picked up at Selfridges, fronted the pages of The Independent today.  Nevertheless, sale shopping is a chore that must be endured and investigated as I’m not about let a possible bargain slip away from me.  Especially when I have been eyeing up things for a good period of time now, example being these shoes from Kurt Geiger, all with a chunky cylinder heel and gold zip detailing.  Now the original prices all being in the ¬£200 region were shockingly high.  This is Kurt Geiger, a high street shoe store, we are talking about and for the equivalent price, you could easily buy something a little more high-end.  Though the designs are indeed unique and quite a surprise for this shoe chain, I do wonder how people forked over the full wack price.

Perhaps realising, they were being a tad too greedy, the prices have now been reduced by more than 50% and quite rightly so in my opinion!  Though by no means a bargain even after reduction, at least we’re looking at something sensible.  Banishing silly inflated prices is just one reason why I’ll have to work my way through a some sort of a sales strategy.

Boxter Рwas £220, now £79

Stocking Рwas £250, now £99

Harlem Рwas £220, now £89

  1. Great shoes! I love the gold zips. and I know what you mean, price-wise if i’m going to spend the money, I want something a little more high-end for sure.

  2. Those shoes are fantastic…so are the sale prices. Just shows how much we get ripped off because they’re obviously still turning a decent profit on the sale prices.

  3. You’re right: They were overpriced originally. Do you suppose that retailers assign an actual sticker that is the SALE price, and just hope someone will pay the inflated, unrealistic price pre-sale? I’m wondering about this. This seems to be the case with our Macy’s, where it is ridiculous to pay full price since the sales and coupons are so frequent.
    Very cute, though.

  4. The first and the third are gorgeous. The second, I don’t really like. I understand what you mean about madness, it’s like lining up to get into clubs just to get into a store.

  5. yiikes! for Kurt Griger shoes??? i bought a pair a while back and the heel caps instantly came off, it was p.o.’ed to say the least…
but i know what you mean… unfortunately my bf and i got the stomach flu xmas day, and we had to cancel our los angeles trip, no creatures of comfort for me! 🙁
so, i’m right there with you in trying to figure out a strategy…

  6. hii. just wanted to say that i been reading the rest of your entries. annd your a HUGE inspiration… heh. i use to care how people thought i dressed but seeing you dress the way you do ..and i love it. im more willing to take chances and wear what i want to wear.

  7. I just found out today that if you go to the Kurt Geiger in Fenwick you get an extra 10% off on the first day off the sale. Luckily for me that was today. Apparently they do it every year. i kept muttering to my boyfriend that if he’d told me earlier I could have mentioned it on my blog.

  8. Ah Kurt Geiger, undeniably-in my mind-the cream of the high-street footwear crop. The Harlem-s are especially enticing.
    DCB.

  9. sorry..but…FIVE Handbags from selfridges?!
    WHAT IS THIS?!
-takes a few breaths to calm herself-
anywho- the shoes are lovely, I especially like the stocking, though the Boxter is quite a cute spin on a mary-jane =)

  10. Great to see zippers and black pantent leather making a comeback. Haven’t seen this combo done well since my Duran Duran days!

  11. Chic Looks: Good choice…the KG stuff is even more bargainous than the Kurt Geiger mainline.
Bronwyn: Grumble…. they should just price it like that from the start…
Suzanna: Sales I reckon are retailers’ bread and butter…. I just can’t imagine the majority of ppl paying full wack for these…
Lady C: Oh no…. how crap….how are you feeling now?
Amanda: That’s nice to know! I’m not in any way an inspiration in terms of style but it’s great that you’re having fun with clothes…
Rollergirl: *muah* thanks for the tip!
    Zainab: I kid you not…
