It’s a little sad that I only came across the concept and meaning of Black Friday when I started reading blogs and blogging myself. Black Friday being the day after the US holiday Thanksgiving (fourth Thursday of November…) that marks the beginning of Christmas shopping season. It’s referred to as the busiest retail shopping day hence why US retailers have ker-razy Black Friday sales and why I came across the term with various bloggers banging on about ‘Black Friday Sales’. Reading various bloggers talking about their Black Friday shopping hauls can be painful at time and with the dollar so weak at the moment, I’m tempted to plan in a mini-break to NYC just around this holiday next year. However I’ll banish such lavish and over-indulgent notions if all of my favourite online US-based stores that ship internationally extended Black Friday online. They should most defintiely take a leaf from Creatures of Comfort’s book who will be having a generous post Thanksgiving sale with 30% off EVERYTHING tomorrow and 20% off for the weekend.
I’ve said in the past that Creatures of Comfort is a joy to browse and really it speaks for itself. I imagine that the physical store itself is also a pleasure to shop in as a reader did point out that the choice of labels is decidedly un-LA, leaving the people who do appreciate Creature of Comfort’s defiant label choices with a better chance at nabbing things during sales such as this one.
There’s a lot of muted cosiness that is ripe for layering here from labels that are somewhat harder to find in the UK…
The real bargainous stuff though comes when you apply the 30% to Creatures of Comfort’s sale stock and given the nature of the un-trend led pieces that CoC buys in, these are all still relevant buys despite being a few seasons old.
Yeah we may not get to scoff turkey and all the trimmings over here in Europe (well not until X’mas anyways!) but we can at least try and enjoy the post Thanksgiving sales benefits. Please expand all images to get the full effect of the discounted prices (is it a tad sad that I like seeing crosses over original prices with the new price stated…?).
I’m posting this today as a pre-sale reminder but remember, the 30% discount applies tomorrow (23rd Nov) and then the 20% applies over the weekend (24th-25th)! Happy Thanksgiving to those that are scoffing turkey and all the rest of it….

“Christmas” is happening earlier and earlier each year – I believe they assaulted shoppers in Shanghai with yuletide cheer on the 15th.
oh dude… thanks for letting me know about this! actually, i really like c of c because it makes me feel like i’m not such a socal anomaly…
🙂
happy thanksgiving (even though you don’t celebrate it…)
and happy shopping tomorrow!

In the US they deeply discount the prices in many shops early in the morning after Thanksgiving. Some shops are opening around 5 AM tomorrow. This would really work for UK residents, between the dollar being week and it being 10 AM your time – jet lag works this time!
My friends and I just went driving past 3 different electronics stores and there are already lines around the corner and down the block. There are people in tents who have been outside since early this morning, and still have 12 hours of waiting to go! Black Friday is serious crazy person business in the US, especially in NYC, don’t put yourself through it!
…(is it a tad sad that I like seeing crosses over original prices with the new price stated…?)…
no it’s not. i was getting heart palpitations looking at the slashed prices on the cut out sandal heels and united bamboo jacket!!!
Susie you’re a saviour. I’ve been stalking the site to see if the sale items had been further reduced, and this will be perfect.
hey susie i love c of c but… i dont see any sale on their homepage or any discounted prices? DO you know the time they come into effect on the 23 or is it midnight on the 23… which im already past…
I think we might need to monitor this throughout the day as the store is based in LA, it has only JUST turned midnight there (0:01 23rd Nov) As the sale is both in-store and online, I have no idea whether the discount applies from when the physical store opens (in which case, we’ll need to wait another 10 hours or so…) or when it is physically the 23rd….also I don’t think the discount applies until you add things to your basket and then checkout….so all in all… we shall have to wait and see…
All systems are go – sale is now on! Sharpen your elbows…
But they took away the sale section! Sorry guys for my misinformation…
you just have to look for each item individually
OOOh i LURVE COC. i MUST have those Chie Mihara kilted oxfords!
