Whilst our heads are up in the fashion clouds, ooh-ing and aah-ing over Riccardo Tisci’s sublime work at Givenchy (I’m telling you those giant gold studs have been permanently ingrained in my head for the past six months and will continue to do so for the next three or four….), Givenchy, a company owned by LVMH that needs to make profits, are up in the REAL clouds designing sheets and cushions for Singapore Airlines new A380 plane…. AKA the gigantic-est passenger plane ever. Singapore Airlines have come up with a travel class BEYOND first class that puts customers in their Singapore Airline Suites. I won’t go into too much details of what basically are airplane hotel rooms for those runneth over with money (I dread to think how much it is to sleep in one of these suites!) but Givenchy have designed the duvets and cushions for the full sized flat beds that is supposed to ensure people ‘drift into peaceful and comfortable sleep.’ I just wonder who gets the lovely job of designing these super-lux sheets? Will people actively feel the difference between sleeping in Givenchy sheets and say, Primark (don’t knock it…their sheets are actually not bad…)?
The reality is that it’s probably random collaborations like this and of course Givenchy’s cosmetics and perfume turnover that keeps Tisci and his team carrying on and creating the visual beauties we see at the ready to wear and haute couture shows. Now, which fashion house would like the honour of redesigning the grubbiness that are Eurostar train seats? Or better yet, the Northern Line’s seat prints?

If I was going to europe maybe…

The luxuriousness of Givenchy in the sky is overwhelming, overpowering, overstimulating! Darling, this is incredible!
On the topic of luxuriousness, take a sneak peak of Punky Penny’z LA Fashion Week coverage, making an appearance on her blog very soon: http://www.punkypenny.com
