Fashion 156 have toiled hard and have produced a stunner of an issue (I’m not just saying it because I’m a contributor…feel free to ignore my measly paragraphs…). Dedicated to IQONS, the editorials, features all relate to IQONS members selected by Fashion156. I don’t think I can harp on about IQONS enough and what it’s doing for the fashion industry, getting new talent ‘out there’ and Guy, the editor of Fashion156 has chosen a fantastic variety of IQONS members to feature.
In the editorial, out of the all the fab pieces used, it was the Jonathan Anderson pieces that caught my eye. Actually it’s rather hard not to be caught in the glare of his pieces as the giant glass bauble necklaces with insects trapped inside shine and the big metal discs sewn on cardis and tops glimmer.
Surfing onto his IQONS page, I’m immediately intrigued by his sole interest in Elizabeth I and moving onto his MySpace, his page is adorned with 16th-17th century portraits, so you do half expect costumes to come leaping out from his showcase. However, his jewellery range though dramatic is not comical or over-embellished. The physical subject matter of insects trapped in glass is dark but the effect is still really beautiful.
Jonathan Anderson has now produced a full menswear range for SS08 (though Guy has inspired me to take on Anderson’s pieces out of context and wear them myself…) that again I expect literal historical references but again, it all looks very contemporary. Puffball tailcoats and armoured tops somehow don’t looks as odd as they sound when mixed with modern, minimal shoes and bag.
But back to the incredible baubles. I’d love to see the effect (and weight) of wearing several of those necklaces with a lot of black and not much else. Hmmm…time to seek out the person who shares my love of the good Queen Bess.

I’m loving those necklaces too…
I love the metal discs added on the men’s clothing. You wouldn’t think it works, but it does!! Great idea!
the necklaces rock my world
The menswear designs are brilliant! I love the cardigan with the metal discs applied to the right arm. You don’t happen to know if and where his collection is available? I’ve got a new item at the top of my A/W wishlist!
Jefferson: As it’s from a spring summer 2008 collection, I should think selling won’t begin until January….. still enough time for cardi weather though!
His website will be launching soon so I would keep checking there for stockists too…

This is very good. Fashion 156 should do this on a regular basis to give those on IQONS more visibility.
My god! The images are fan-freakin-tastick!
Thanks for the tip Susie or I could have missed it. I don’t check Fashion156 often enough.
ps – love your cute outfit from Paris
Great issue. Do you know where I might get a leather barrel backpack like the white one?
I wholeheartedly approve of other fans of Queen Liz I!
Goodness me, those tailcoats are fantastic! I’ve only just done a post on how much I adore them. I believe I’m going to make one.
oh.. those shoes that necklace.. … ~
