A blog commentor requested more shop window pics so I complied as I simply had to share Selfridges’ new season shop windows, hailing the re-launch of Herve Leger, exclusive to Selfridges. It’s all about the zip, the body-con and the fierce. Even if Herve Leger’s own designs has been off-the radar for a while (though his vintage pieces are being enthusiastically resurrected and eBay is going ballistic in prices now), Leger’s influences can be seen amongst the bandage dresses of Preen, Christopher Kane and Proenza Schouler. I contemplated making a handstitched elastic bandage dress after hearing needles kept on breaking when Kane was working on his SS/07 collection but I think I’ll keep on hunting for the vintage Leger, whilst lusting after this new collection shown splendidly here in the Selfridges windows.
The rainbow dress looks particularly spectacular rising out of the giant zip. Though I was quite disappointed that the giant zip on the blue dress was not part of the dress but a neckpiece made by Fred Butler (someone to seek out and discover!).
The rest of the window display highlights the darker side of AW07-8. A lot of ‘tight is right’ outfits. A lot of black and a lot of scraped back high pony tails. I love how every clad-in-black mannequin stands out against the surreal large zip pieces.
Alexander McQueen // Balmain, Jonathan Saunders // Dolce & Gabanna, Raf Simons
Rodnik (another new addition to the LFW schedule) // Giles // Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga
Donna Karan // Helmut Lang // Missoni
My favourite though is the pairing of the Osman Yousefzada chain dress with the Raf Simons outfit. I’m being greedy in hankering after the dress and the boots (yes I know they’re mens’ boots but the zips on the back should really be seen more on womens styles too…).

Ugh can’t wait to be in London on the 31st!
And I’m definitly gonna go check out whats going on in Selfridges!
WHOA! That’s one cool display. Whoever designed it should be proud!

Wow, what an amazing art installation! Cuz that’s totally what it is – something of that magnitude can no longer be termed just a window display.
i believe that the rainbow dress was worn by a lindsay lohan to maxim’s sexiest women party.
big zippers yes. high ponytail/braids yes. some bodycon yes but too much is scary. and too soon for me!
