Potential Mega Seller…..?

As I have said, I’m now back onto hardcore eBaying in that mad, frenzied, way I was from about 2002-2003 (Nissin instant noodles and Ovaltine were my best friends…) with renewed faith.  When I stumble upon power eBay sellers that constantly amaze with their vintage wares, I jump for joy, keep checking back and add items to my Watch List regularly (Ferryvintage & Olive Shoppe are my super faves…).  But what if a seller may have no intentions of being a regular Power Seller and has just taunted me with a sublime list of eBay auctions and might never sell again?  Elegance_is_an_attitude is based in Belgium and according to his/her’s selling history, started by selling some vintage Atari and Commodore bits and bobs but then on the 1st July listed a whole batch of vintage finds.

The batch included…

These Andre Courreges silver go go boots (I have figured out why those HoH Kickers were tickling my fancy… I’m currently on the look out for flat shiny boots that aren’t wellies….) and white mary janes.

A Pierre cardin black wool skirt suit with a jacket that could easily be mistaken for contemporary Yohji Yamamoto or something // A Pierre Cardin hat that was used in the 1965 haute couture show that is a clean-cut take on a bonnet

Not just concentrating on the 60’s, there are also some more contemporary finds from well-known designers….

Paco Rabanne metallic disc belt // Nina Ricci 90’s see through pleated blouse // Sonia Rykiel 1997 purple platform shoes

…and some absolute gems from the not-so-well-known designers…. ABSOLUTELY Zcmeahts big pocketed black skirt // Constantin Kontonis leather belt

So I stupidly watched a bunch of stuff but then missed the auctions because…. oh dear, how embarrassing….. I fell asleep watching Roswell on alluc.org to pass time (yes I had a thing for human aliens…).  Since then, I’ve been ravenously clicking away at Elegance_is_an_Attitude, hoping to find more gems listed but nope…nothing… zilch.

Positive clues to suggest that Elegance_is_an_attitude might have all the intentions of selling more of his/her wares in the future though…

-Very high quality, clear, all-angle view photographs.

-A regular, simple and stylish listing description format

-The bit of text that says "Please take a look on my other auctions I’m selling a lot of clothes & accesories (Pierre Cardin, Andr√© Courr√®ges, Ted Lapidus, Paco Rabanne, Yves Saint Laurent, Guy Laroche, Chanel, Herm√®s, Max Mara, Emilio Pucci, Leonard, Sonya Rykiel, Versace…) all starting at only ¬£4.90"

I haven’t seen any YSL, Laroche, Chanel, Hermes as yet in the selling history so…. With patience and luck, I will be getting bid happy soon with Elegance_is_an_attitude and I won’t have to berate myself for missing the auctions because of Max Evans and Liz Parker’s silly doe-eyed romantic antics (Michael and Maria were by far the better couple!)….oh dear…. has the realisation of how sad and pathetic I am dawned on you guys yet?

  1. and what happened to olive shoppe? she took down all of her auctions and hasn’t been around in, like, a month!

  2. yea i love olive shoppe. but her stuff still ends at a pretty high price range. ebay has lost its sparkle

  3. Dearest Ms. Bubble,
Are you aware of any similar ebay-shops for men? I’m find it increasingly difficult to spot that kind of ware.

  4. it’s even more difficult to find things like that on ebay germany. somehow they just call everything “vintage” and most of it is rubbish…
btw, susie, i know *perfectly* what you’re talking about! and you missed the auctions because of roswell, oh my god. 😉
why don’t you write an e-mail to that person, asking whether there is more to come?

  5. I love this blog. I’m sure everyone says this lol
anyway, love the purple shoes. If only I could afford it…

  6. Saskia: Will definitely do that!
Cillian: I’m afraid to say, if finding womesnwear like this is this hard…then for menswear…well…. don’t make me say it….
Must keep clicking away at these eBay sellers….

  7. cokie: theoliveshoppe is okay! i noticed the cancelled auctions as well. turns out she had to leave town on short notice and wasn’t going to be there when the auctions ended. she said she’ll probably relist in a week or so when she gets back!

  8. phew. you know, i was a bit worried about her. i don’t think the world could take losing someone with that amount of style. she’s just too great-looking for words. i watch for how she puts things together almost as avidly as i read susie bubble.

  9. cokie, i totally hear you. i was WAY worried about her as well! fortunately, we (and the rest of the world) can rest easy now. 😉
