Just when you thought that another editorial of spring summer fashion would make you sick (or is it just me that I’m already yearning for autumn winter 2007-8?), along comes something like this. From the summer issue of 10 magazine, London-based photographer Toyin has shown a darker side to florals. I especially love the etched/photocopied effects of some of the images, paired with the Christopher Kane dress (and it would take some persuasion for me to look at yet ANOTHER editorial featuring those Kane minidresses). Toyin is someone most British fash mag readers will be familiar with, being a regular contributor to Dazed & Confused (an insightful/hilarious Q&A here) and having shot campaigns for McQ and Topshop. She specialises in showing raw emotions of the ‘yoof’ which for me can be a little irritating but here I think the romanticism adds a dimension of fantasy that works for me.
Plus…the main thing is that I’m not sick of spring summer 2007 fashion…yet…

The dark feeling really makes it stand out.
inspirational, indeed:)
i cannot wait for fall/winter 07/08. san francisco is too cold in the summer for anything seasonal. it’s all about the fall clothes…. 🙂
Beautiful, this editoral gives me idea to wear something dark with florals.
Love the mermaid-y one in the centre – it also reminds me a bit of the laced exaggerated-hips corset thingie you posted a while back.
love this! i’m still yearning for autumn though :o)
These are really really wonderful, like looking into a fairytale, that you are not quite sure if its good or bad…!
Something about the dark moodiness of these shots reminds me of the wonderful work of Deborah Turbeville. *sigh* These are lovely images.
i love this, it’s dreamy. and of course, i like the more honest sense of spring, moody and emotional, beautiful and afraid. oh dear, i feel rather reflective today.
