What? It's the U word again!

If I keep extolling Uniqlo’s virtues and bigging them up, I’m afraid I’m going to turn into their spokesperson or something but really I can’t harp on enough about them. In total, there have been 4 posts dedicated to Uniqlo.  Well, what can I say!  For a fairly style-complex child like me, when the simple stuff is as cheap and as good as this, what I can I say except ‘More more more!’ and as I have warned, the ‘more’ for spring is a treat indeed.  The two forthcoming collections for Uniqlo’s Designers Invitation Project will probably spark the most interest State-side seeing as it’s NYFW faves Alice Roi and Phillip Lim.  The collection is up and will be available to buy from the 20th April in all stores worldwide (do New Yorkers forsee a bit of a frenzy at their Soho flagship store?). I have to say, the Alice Roi collection is a little on the bland side.  That’s an odd statement considering Uniqlo’s style methodology but most of it errs on the side of bad-simple save for these two dresses.

Phillip Lim’s collection however says good-simple all over. Well simple with a hit of plaid and sweet shapes and of course Lim’s trademark way of making women think ‘Hey… I really want to wear that…’. Once I have done my Uniqlo haul I’ll have my frollocking in LA sun outfits all ready (indeed I will be gingerly venturing out to the West Coast… will I be peturbed/exalted? Who knows..). I’m also hoping to bust out with my Uniqlo Lim paired with Real Lim outfits (I have surprisingly garnered quite a few real Lim pieces). It’s all a little Lim overkill and a bit ’90’s head to toe one label’ syndrome but frankly, I just don’t give a toss.

  1. Oh I WISH there was Uniqlo in Scotland! It seems like the perfect shop for simple but quirky pieces and even the jeans look half decent! I never made it to the shop in london last year, but this year it’ll be my FIRST port of call for sure.

  2. Oh my.
See that dress in the bottom left picture?
I really want to wear that.
Why doesn’t Vancouver have Uniqlo? I am getting so turned off the stores we have here. Everyone looks the same…

  3. That skirt on the bottom right is great. Perfect to wear with a plain vest or T. Nice & easy! Have to say that model is putting me off a bit though – especially in that picture. I’m not one for vilifying models who are naturally thin but I’m not at all convinced here. Don’t think that top’s doing her any favours either though…

  4. Wow, I especially like the plaid Lim items. And you’re right – how does he do it? I thought I didn’t like plaid. Thank you for showing these things πŸ™‚ Do you still shop & ship international? Just asking, because I fear I will obsess about the plaid dress and skirt outfit for a couple of days…

  5. Oh, I like those.. I’ll be sure to check them out when I go to NY in the beginning of june. πŸ™‚
I know I mostly just lurk around but since you seem to enjoy looking at other places’ streetstyle I thought you might want to take a look at reykjaviklooks.blogspot.com πŸ™‚ It’s not mine but it’s icelandic and shows some really unique people. πŸ™‚

  6. i’m actually scared for the soho arrival of these clothes, because i know i’ll have to go on the first day and i know it will be a scary mob scene. but for philip, anything!

  7. Susie – this is my first post on your blog, but I’ve already read it from first entry to most recent. Just want to tell you that I absolutely love it! I love your “style risks” and your combination of high and low end designers. You never cease to entertain me during boring periods at work, and give me new ideas to try out in my own wardrobe. (I was just thinking of your blog this afternoon while I was at a thrift shop on my lunch hour, and I scored a vintage snakeskin purse for 75 cents!) In a world of too many fashion blogs covering just the Gucci’s and Prada’s, I like it that you’re realistic. Thanks!!!

  8. OOOH PHILLIP LIM!!! yum! too bad I live in australia where the only thing we get is… crappy stella mccartney for target (which apparently fitted really badly)
    shame. . . I think I’m a bit jealous!!!
great blog by the way, me and my friend have been stalking it for a while! thank god you update your blog so often.

  9. Oh man I miss Uniqlo! I wanna be back in the UK! [-_-] I’m in to the preppy look as it looks so clean and fresh but no over doing it and not too urban.
I wish a store opened up here in Sydney, but then again we don’t even have GAP.
    :/
    ps. Nice blog!

  10. Dear Susie, do you know when these collection will be hitting the stores?
Also will you be hitting up on some sample sales this weekend? πŸ˜‰ I’m considering the billion dollar babe as I have never been, any good?
    Xx

  11. Does this mean the Philip Lim stuff is coming to the UK? I saw the white dress in a BUST fashion spread and immediately fell in love with it.

  12. Yes people, it will be coming to stores in the UK.
Launch is supposed to be 20th April but it may take longer to filter to the UK.
Katie: I have spanked my wages silly so I’m *shock* not shopping this weekend… instead I might head to the coast for some zen time!

  13. ooooh. love the skirt in the last pic. the shape is kwl – wish we had a uniqlo store in cam. alas! xxxc

  14. Great blog! Just discovered you on FabSugar. Love the Uniqlo looks, but need a Gravol after visiting their Web site…Too. Much. Animation.

  15. Ohhhhh….I love the Phillip Lim stuff! I don’t think there’s any way for me to get my hands on it, though :(. I refuse to ebay on principle.

  16. Oh.. Love the 2 pictures at the bottom right.. Love the plaid and the simplicity of the light beige dress.. it’s fulled with details.

  17. Fantastic, thanks for the heads up! I only wish that their sizing wasn’t so generous and so broad. . . not everyone can wear everything in small, medium, and large!

  18. that plaid phillip lim dress looks exactly like one that i got from apc last season, down to the colors, pockets, & short sleeves…

  19. I was at the London Uniqlo today and they only had a few Phillip Limm dresses left in m and l size. Lots of t’s with the side tie. It didn’t appear to have a launch today (20th) rather it slid in the back door quietly…

  20. Please let me know where I can buy the Lim white dress scoop neck with 3 bows in front and the matching coat. Loved them.

  21. i am now sniff sniffing into my afternoon tea… this time last week we were sweating like we have never sweated before, in the best possible way to sweat. gosh how i miss my dearies and their perfectly perfect doilifying ways!
