The rain fell and felt like it would not stop gushing down, wet socks were squished into uncomfortable shoes and the outfit started to give off a strange damp smell. Having just been through a day of shuffling from show to show, being herded into venues like cattle and then sitting around waiting for the show to begin, here outside Selfridges, I sudddenly remember this is what they’re all about – discussions of how skinny a model looks, who is sitting in the front row, and exclaimations of what so and so is wearing are all irrelevant because really, it is about the clothes. I remember that during the show for, ten to fifteen minutes, I’m completely mesmorised by the clothes, the way they move, the textures, the colours (and yes, it is unfortunately true that clicking on Style.com does not really compare to seeing the clothes in reality). Above all, its about appreciating the cratfsmanship and seeing a designer’s vision and inspiration play out. All the rest of it is just the residual mess attached to the clothes. My moment of clarity came as I was staring at this window display. The forms of Balmain, Lanvin and McQueen illuminated against clean backgrounds. The clear sillhouettes sort of cleared my mind as well. Strange how these moments just come to you.

I have to say, when I was in London the window displays of the big stores had me awestruck! So beautiful. I was left to wander around Selfridges whilst the BF went wandering elsewhere, and as I waited outside for him to return when I was finished, I just walked around all the window displays with my jaw opened! Seriously, I must have looked like a total hick to any Londoners – I felt like grabbing passers by and saying “have you see this? isn’t this beautiful?!”, obviously I didn’t…
Of course the pictures won’t match up to real life..and that is a stunning set of window displays.
very beautifull suzy!
like a dreamy vision!
Quite ethereal.
These displays reminds me of lighting installation in which you hang your clothes on to cast different effects…if only I could remember where I saw it…
what a wonderful vision!
