Injecting some Folk

One of I think the most accomplished, slick and well-thought out designer’s website is that of Issey Miyake (created by the very talented Etienne Mineur  whose blog is also a visual treat).  With quite a number of sub-brands to collate (Comme des Garcons take note!), it makes it a hell of a lot easier for my drooling pleasure.  I’m a complete Pleats Please and A-Poc addict, having got my first taste from a pair of Pleats Please capri pants.  Another sub-brand of Miyake’s that not everyone will be familar with is HaaT, created in 2000 – it combines artisanal techniques from India with Japanese design.  I know folky/hippy is like, oh my god, ‘SO OVER’ but you know what?  Artisanal craftsmanship is something that shouldn’t be out or in but rather – a constant.

From the S/S2007 collection – if you go on the website, it makes some satisfying clicky noises as you whizz through the pics.  Now… to turn online browsing into actual shopping…. the Issey Miyake store in London scares me a little so I’ll take it real slow….

  1. Heh…I’m sick of boho too but I do think that Haat is aptly named…it’s one of the words for market in Hindi. But boho would be nice if details weren’t taken so over the top- I never want to look at a wooden bead necklace again.

  2. Hi, have you seen the Christopher Kane topshop stuff yet? I really want to know what it’s like (ie if I should save some pennies) but I don’t live near london and I can’t find any pics anywhere. Please post something on them if you have!
ps, I love your blog! for a while I was having a problem sleeping, so I managed to work through your whole archive! lots of fun 🙂
