Still waiting for amazing….

It’s Fashion Week again and I should be excited and giddy.  I feverishly dart between Getty images, Vogue.co.uk and Style.com (who are really slow….) to check images.  But something is not right.

Perhaps it’s because London is experiencing an Indian summer and I’m itching to get into fall gear and thus, I’m not really "over" fall yet.  Perhaps it’s only New York Fashion Week at the moment (which unfortunately comes in at number 3 in my favourite fashion week ranking – London and Paris being number 2 and 1).  Or maybe I’m just feeling rather underwhelmed by what has been shown thus far.  I’m really not "feeling" any of the new spring summer 2007 collections.  I see nothing that standouts or is really directional in terms of trends.  It is waaaay too early to tell what will actually make it into catwalk roundups but still, it bothers me that I’m not feeling very inspired.  There’s a slight hint of prarie countrified theme going on but with minimalism and pale nude colours still dominating from last year, it’s hard to see anything strong coming through.

I shall have to make further observations probably straight after the Marc Jacobs show since *rolls eyes* he does seem to have the influential touch with his collections.  But unforunately, I’m feeling just that little bit non-plussed at the moment.  The following weeks should hopefully see my enthusiasm pick up again.

  1. Oh yes..must we not forget THE god…i mean, Mr. Jacobs..but I agree with you on this praire look – I think clean and graphic will still dominate….

  2. did you see the Luella collection? normally i could give a shit about her but i think im in love. the matching patterned shoes…tons of black and white prints together. yes! i need a completely matching outfit now.

  3. oh and also i think the Herchcovitch stuff is pretty cool. maybe im just into prints though haha. those primary color modrian-esque boots need to be mine!!

  4. I’m actually here at the shows and let me tell you, we’re all in agreement. Except for the Sabyasachi show I’ve been really underwhelmed. Reem Acra was great too but not for everyday. Lovely fabrics. Very touchable!

  5. so far i’ve loved thakoon and yigal azrouel’s shows. wonderfully clean and simple lines.

  6. I am in definite agreement with you. I am completely underwhelmed by the spring outpouring of designers. Marc Jacobs is an exception thus far, some of the young designers are showing promise.
