You know, I can always count on eBay to cheer me up and get me giddy about fashion frippery. It’s because an auction lot like this one starts with no reserve and at a starting price of 0.99 cents. It’s an auction for 68(!) vintage rings, a majority of which I’d wear as one statement piece of jewellery. I’m really liking the idea of wearing rings over thin knit/leather gloves too.
But we all know what’s going to happen. The bidding price start to slowly gain momentum, but you still hold out hope. It’s the last 10 minutes. You’re all geared up to go into a bidding frenzy and then *swoop*, suddenly some smartarse manages to outbid you in the last 2 seconds and it’s back to getting out the plastic for a Buy It Now item to fill the gaping void. Well, I guess we can all hope and pray that nobody else is going to what 68 rings right? Yeah, we can keep wishing because I suppose that’s what makes eBay so addictive – the *possibility* of scoring something great for not a lot.

Unless you are against the idea, I would just snipe the auction if you really wanted it.
This is amazing stuff.
that’s why I can’t stand eBay-I can never win ANY auctions! That’s why I quit eBaying (is that a verb?)
waoo..nice rings..i like it~:>
In Finland we have this very similar site as eBay, but there is a thing that the auction closes five minutes AFTER the LAST bid.
For example: The auction is supposed to close at 13.00, but then somebody bids at 12.59, the closing time moves to 13.04… And it goes on until the other bidders give up and there is only one left; The one who is willing to pay most.
It works 🙂
That’s why I use Snipeswipe. It’s the best $5 I’ve ever spent, and I don’t have to worry about when the auction ends or if my connection is slow. I just enter the highest amount I’m willing to pay for the item and it automatically bids for me in the last few seconds.
Oh, And in this finnish site, there is also quite similar system as Michelle mentioned above.
It’s called the “bidding robot”. You bid, and then you can enter an amount you are willing to pay. And if some other bids, that robot will automaticly bit higher for you.
I’ts quite ashame that it’s only in Finnish since in works so well. eBay should copy it 😛
This just happened to me yesterday. I bid on a pair of boots that were all mine till somebody outbid me in the last seconds. I was pissed off for the rest of the night.
