Fashion is Free My Pets

It’s kind of near-ish the end of the month and I surrender – I am flat out broke.  Now how could that be?  Could it be the extortionate amount I had to pay to get my lap top fixed?  Or the fact that all that cheap stuff from Ikea actually tots up to about a grand?   For whatever reasons, I’m not spending another penny on clothes until payday so on Saturday, I had to get my fashion fix by trying things on for fun.  Now, don’t ask me why, but I particularly like to do it in Topshop.  The thing is, it’s big enough that they don’t care even if you haul a whole rail of stuff in there and come out, handing it all back to the SA’s.  Little boutiques and designer stores which tend to be quieter is harder to do the trying it on thing where the assistants will have their eye fixed on you and some will have a sneering tone if you don’t buy anything or they just make you feel bad because they’ve lavished so much attention on you only for you to walk out on them empty-handed.  Oh and I also refuse to try things on for fun in Selfridges because their changing rooms are always inexplicably dirty.

A LOT of the Topshop Unique A/W06 range (the collection that was shown on the catwalk) is now in store so I decided to pick three dresses (in particular, trying on dresses for fun is more fun than anything else!).  The bad thing is of course, trying them on and discovering the dress is perfecto, you have to put it back and pray it will still be there in 10 days time.  I now have my heart set on the black one.  You can’t see from the pics but it has this amazing texture and is really structured quite nicely.  Reminds me of very early Issey Miyake.   Fashion is for free but only so much as enjoying the feeling of a garment, keeping that feeling is quite another matter altogether!

  1. I love the yellowed green belted frock in the middle, but the black one is extraordinarily slimming on you.
Good luck on buying those beatities!

  2. i love the black one too, i saw a topshop SA wearing it over a roll neck the other day, but after having a look around i couldn’t see it anywhere, so i suppose it’s sold out in that store.

  3. a month ago, seeing those dresses in the manchester store, i decided i would have to ry them on for fun as you have. they are just so beautiful, it is the structure

  4. I love the little back one. The back is exceptionally beautiful. 🙂 Happy buying!

  5. Oh I always do that , it’s a lot of fun because I pick things that I wouldn’t normally wear or things that I can’t afford even when I do have money. I think you should get the khakish colour dress too that one is also beautiful. And for those same reasons I get put off shopping in boutiques x
