Bag it up Devil Wears Prada Style

For the American viewers who have seen the Devil Wears Prada, you might recognise this bag, if you were avidly noting what every character was wearing.  After I was initially sorely disappointed by the fashion in this film,(and I’ve yet to see  this film, so I still could be swayed), I really shouldn’t be bringing this up.  But ASOS have started to sell this bag, designed by Patricia Field, the stylist of the movie and it ain’t half bad.

It’s a large two way chocolate bag with a detachable strap made out of cracked style ‘material’.  Which probably means it’s not leather but at £50, it wouldn’t be the worse buy in the world.  £22 of the £50 is also going to Breakthrough Breast Cancer which is a nice touch.  I love the shape of the bag and the way you can wear it in two ways but I’m still sitting on the fence about those gold studs and the brown leather – a little too Notting Hill boho chic for my tastes.  However, during the time between me deliberating about the bag and handing over my credit card, it will probably sell it since it was featured in today’s Grazia magazine.  Let me know how you guys get on if you decide to get a piece of the Devil Wears Prada styling.

  1. hey susie:)) i love your blog! and your style diary!! i found your blog through teen vogue, and i adore it, it got me totally hooked! i ve been saving your photos on my laptop to look at them at any time for inspiration:))
as for the devil wears prada..well i havent seen the film and i dont have a lot to say about it, but the bag..well my personal opinion is that it is nothing special. it is ok i suppose, but when i listen to the name patricia field i expected something extraordinary, and this bag is not ..for me. and the money is too much..maybe because i have seen similar bags in my country, that are much cheaper, and maybe because i have seen so much of them already i dont consider them to be something special anymore..
hm..i cant wait to see what everyone else has to say.
I LOVE THIS BLOG:) KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK:)

  2. I hate bags made of ‘pleather’ – just charge a bit extra and make the damn thing leather!

  3. I’ve decided to risk it. I rather like the style of the bag, although I am a little worried about whether the bag’s material will be a bit dodgy. Time will tell!
I had a squiz at the bag on http://www.amazon.com, which had the ‘exclusive’ on the bag in the USA, and has since sold out. While the reviews are mixed (some love, some hate), the pictures seem to give you a better idea of what it looks like ‘on’. I quite like it in the pics.. and if it’s awful, I guess I’ll return it. I’ll comment again when I receive it, and let you know what it’s like.

  4. (sorry for the multiple posts, but..)

  6. I’ve got one on order. The ‘cripes, it’s already sold out’ was because I accidentally clicked on the link again and saw it was sold out only a few hours later..
