When a party is co-hosted by Yves Saint Laurent, the guests really can’t go wrong with their outfits. Yes, the Serpentine summer party is one of those cliched London summer ‘season’ events and yes, I should be scoffing and huffing at the ‘rah rah’ posh factor of this event. However when it’s themed around soft pink fluffiness with YSL flowers that are pickable and when the setting is at a pink-lit Serpentine Pavillion which is an ovoid shaped transclucent canapy over the lawn in pretty Kensington Gardens – well…. you really just wish you were there to see the spectacle. Plus, this year, it was predictably a YSL outfit parade, which can only be a good thing. Standouts for me were Kristin Scott Thomas (she can do no wrong in my books!) and Tilda Swinton who looked beautifully imposing in a white draped column dress. Also a special bravo bravo to filmaker Liz Goldwyn for going for the pink rose YSL cape.

What pink thing? Do you mean the top picture? That’s the Serpentine pavillion – it’s like a translucent spherical canopy in Kensington Gardens, London.

the outfits are great… except for tilda! oh no, she looks like she’s wearing a bedsheet, and not in a cool project runway kind of way!

claire danes, linda evangelista and mischa look fabulous. tilda’s dress makes her look like a coffin.
