Denim Hong Kong Style

Ok, anybody from Hong Kong or Japan reading this will be thinking ‘Susie, you’re SOOOOO behind with the times!’ because this trend is pretty much standard stuff in the land of the overly baggy pants.  Why it’s the dropped crotch jeans of course!  Funnily enough, guys in Hong Kong haven’t taken to the skinny jean like the girls have but they have all found a penchant for this MC-Hammer style.  These ones are by Swedish label Ladies and Gentleman and are available here for a mere £105.  Sue me now, but I kinda love them.  These ones are specifically for girls with a high waist, many buttons and of course the skinny leg.  So it’s a more sophisticated take on the usual hip hop-style low riders.  I’d wear them with a loose chiffon top and some delicate flats for the ultimate contrast.

  1. I love this style of jeans too. I managed to bag myself a pair from All Saints for £60 a few months ago! I’m wearing them today in fact with some baby pink ballet pumps!

  2. i’ve loved the drop crotch style since it was all over the place in HK years ago but I can never carry off the versions sold in high street stores here cus of my distinct lack of ass, it’s sooo annoying cus I don’t seem to give up and have countless pairs in the back of my wardrobe now.

  3. i hate dropped crotch pants. makes you look like you’ve got poo in your pants.

  4. sorry, but at first glance, the photos above reminded me of an incontinent old man (or someone wearing adult diapers) ambling down the street. i guess i have to see more photos of this style to give it a fair assessment.

  5. Not my thing, but definitely something you could easily pull of, especially in an outfit as described above.

  6. Oh I love this style. Wrangler released a tribute to them a few months ago a jean called the ‘Tokyo Joe’.

  7. Unfortunatley I was a teenager in the 80’s and these bring back far too many dreadful memories of what the 80’s were ACTUALLY like – bad clothes in lots of man-made fibres, bad hair, bad music and bad denim (oh yes indeed…I owned a pair of jeans with roses printed on them – nuff said). Oh the shame.

  8. ^Can’t have been all that bad…. at least it had distinction….the early 90’s were like….meh….what went on there….. nothing!

  9. I love these!! But they definately need tring on before buying – where can I get Ladies and Gentlemen t’up north???!!

  10. i can’t remember my comment exactly but it was something like – i love these! especially since they are denim. the “buttons” really do it for me too.

  11. Having been in Hong Kong and now in Mainland China, I’ll attest to the fact that loads of people are wearing these “dropped crotch” jeans, and they look great! The jeans I’ve seen have crotches that are a little less “dropped” and look MUCH better than the way these pants look on the mannequin thing in the picture.
In my opinion, these work for any physique. I’m Asian and alas, have no butt, but the baggy-ness hides that. 🙂
