Craving Cappellino and College

September is coming round soon and this is the second year where I no longer have to fret about schoolwear, new bags, supplies etc.  But it doesn’t stop me from craving that dorky, happy, shiny feeling when you buy a new bookbag and get needless amounts of coloured pens, intending to colour-code your notes but really, they’re just there to look pretty in your spanking new pencil case.   My love of functional, roomy and unadorned bags stems from this pre-school period of anticipation and preparation.

Ally Capellino, aka Alison Lloyd designed various ranges of minimalist, simple clothing during the 90’s, but after re-emerging in 2000 as an accessory designer, now produces functional bags made of durable and desirable materials.  These are the type of bags that bring back those happy, end of summer vacation memories.  There are styles to suit guys and gals and then some that are just unisex in shape.  Just hearing the words Argentine mat leather. washed veg-tanned leather and soft kid leather makes me want to reach out and touch them.  They look like the kind of bags that you could be slinging around for many years to come.  Even the names of the bags ssound like sturdy companions rather than flighty fancies – Billie, Jack, Ellen Georgia.  Pretty they may not be, but they serve their purpose and then some.

At the moment, they’re having a sale and they offer international shipping so nab one whilst you can, even if you’re like me and of the post-school generation and especially if you are about to go back to school.
