Recently, everyone has been going trompe d’oeil mad with this t-shirt that even the Metropolitan police have commented on it saying that gun culture is not a joke and should not be worn so casually. Personally, I think they’re taking it just a tad bit seriously but this t-shirt has been EVERYWHERE. I don’t think they’re all the original t-shirts that Colette were selling but they have most definitely landed as a trend.
I went a little trompe d’oeil mad as well in Antwerp when I bought the camera t-shirt (which is the accompanying one to the gun shirt) and these button badges (a bit odd to say since Americans call these buttons whilst we call them badges) from Clinic, another super cool store (do check out the website!). They labelled the buttons ‘buttons that don’t need any sewing’ which I thought was qutie cute.
Then I went to the Bernhard Willhelm sample sale (yes, trust me to sniff out sample sales even when not in my native London) and saw this quilted t-shirt that had this sheriff get-up motif stitched on. Another trompe d’oeil triumph. I don’t tend to buy many basics like t-shirts and the like so when I do, I might as well make them a bit more exciting with these cool designs.

yes, we americans call them buttons. but we also call them pins. they seem to be interchangeable.
ooohhh I like them all~!! The Bernhard Willhelm one is great~! so clever,
And I have to admit I’m one of the crazed ones too I have several camera tees from Hong Kong.
I’m currently trying to figure out my own design of a stephoscope to print onto a tee (i’m a med student) but it’s proving more difficult than anticipated i must say.
Yes. Trompe l’oeil is really back.

Hi, Susie! Thanks 4 this supa-report from Antwerp. I created a “Fancy a weekend in Antwerp?” link from Da Scaree Fash Post with the pic of U in cardee’n’shorts. Am a button freak. I wear the badges I’m given at press conferences round my neck with my keys, as a permanent accessory. Feel quite “naked” without them! XXG
I have a swimsuit from saint tropez leisure with a camera!
I’m so in love with trompe l’oeil!
I am in Hong Kong at the moment…so does anyone know where I can get one of these shirts over here??
Thanks v. much to anyone who can help!
🙂
Ooh la love. Haven’t owned a T shirt since I was in high school, but I’m kind of digging these…
BTW, blogged about you: http://www.thisnext.com/blog
may i inquire the price of the bernhard willhelm shirt? t.i.a.
Scaree: Thanks for the post – loving your blog as usual…!
Kristopher: Thank you for the trompe post as well – it is indeed my perfect t – at the moment!
Jory: I’m afraid I don’t know where to find it in Hong Kong. I imagine SOMEONE will stock it since it’s the sort of thing ppl go for there. Somewhere like LCX might have it?
SOS: Can’t believe I didn’t even write the best part about that BW t-shirt – it was 36 euros! Was 45 but then all clothing also had an additional 20% discount.
does anyone know where I could get a mens version of the camera T from the interweb as am trying to buy one for my bro fro xmas, a keen fellow photography/fashion geek? thanks!
I know you posted this a long time ago, but I wonder, can you tell me the adress of the Stock Sale? I dont think you’ll read this, but if so, can you email me about it. I would be very very very very thankful. You’ll be my favourite sheriff.
