Maybe it’s the beginning of summer, maybe it’s the time of night but I’m suddenly going to digress into a ‘Oh poor single me!’ rant. Actually, it’s just a wistful musing. Seeing these Street magazine pictures of perfectly stylish couples, it makes me think how great it would be to find a fashion partner in crime who would go rummaging with me for the perfect boots in vintage stores or get what I’m yapping on about when I get excited about a Dries Van Noten sample sale. Increasingly, the archetypical guy who doesn’t give two hoots about what clothes they wear is disappearing, making way for guys who forge their own sense of style and care just as much as us femmes. Thus, we have couples looking picture perfect, and incredibly stylish, the impact doubly felt because they’re in pairs! Personally, I don’t think I’ve been in a relationship where my boyfriend has been AS into fashion as I am which is all very well and for some girls, that works to their advantage as having a boyfriend who’s super into their appearance may not be the best thing in the world. However, on the flipside, it must be nice to drag a boyf to flea markets looking for fashion oddities together or giving each other constructive opinions on respective shopping dilemmas – the perfect skinny jean, finding vintage scuffed trainers, sunglasses. I’ve witnessed these harmonious shopping scenes. If you have found such a person, I’m most happy for you and I can only hope for my very own fashion conscious (but not freakishly obsessed) partner in crime to appear.

i’m not into the stylish couple thing… my boyfriend doesn’t care a fig about fashion (he always wears plain classic jeans or dockers, polos, t-shrirts and wool sweaters in the most boring colors possible…i supose it’s somehow stilysh in his own blasé way) but that’s one of the things i really love about him! i think that 2 fashion-obsessed in a relationship is too much. plus, i like to have all the fashion expertise! but that’s only my opinion and i hope that you’ll find you’re stylish-soul mate soon 🙂
^Yes, I can see it from that angle too….it’s a tricky thing. But I suppose it’s a case of the grass is greener on the other side.

yeah I’m with you chic. I don’t think I’d want my boyfriend to be into fashion. Being dressed well is always attractive (but I don’t necessarily find ‘trendy’ guys attractive) I think if you have the same style outlook it would be fine, but i’m not sure if I’d be worried about them constantly ‘judging’ my outfits. Though it’d be nice to have a guy who could buy good clothing presents. I prefer fashionable friends
my bf and I are both fashion obsessed. He is a vintage dealer-it’s freakin great. And we are both crazy about decorating our house too. No he’s not gay-but he is japanese-the birthplace of the metro sexual…

Having a partner in crime is cool, until the honeymoon period wavers and – it becomes impossible to hide one’s own shopaholicism as hubby is so inextricably fashion savvy he is able to discern every new item that passes over the matrimonial threshold – big fat lies become unavoidable: ” New?! This old thing? (pertaining to fresh out of wrapper must have bag)God no,it’s as old as the ark babe”.
