Two weeks of fashion film pleasure….

Fashionandfilm_front I don’t mean to gloat but the first Fashion in Film Festival will be premiering this week on the 15th in London and will last till the 27th.  The first edition is called "Between Stigma and Enigma,” and it’s a retrospective showcase of film and video work on fashion – a mix of classic and early film, documentaries and contemporary art.

It will feature rare showings of films like Qui êtes-vous, Polly Maggoo? directed by William Klein.  If watching the films isn’t enough, there will also be post-screening Q&A sessions, lectures and informal talks with artists, critics and fashion designers such as Anna-Nicole Ziesche, Jean-François Carly, Penny Martin and Shelley Fox.

I’ve already booked the majority of the programme and thankfully it’s one of those events where it’s ok to go alone.  I think I’d have a hard time trying to find someone to come with me and sit through a discussion about costume design in 1930’s Hollywood hosted by Bronwyn Cosgrave!

  1. That sounds absolutely incredble. I love fashion and film—film and fashion are both so influential and representative of the times.
They certainly don’t have anything like that in Philadelphia… (booo) Hope you have an amazing time!

  2. I just wanted to say that I love your site! I’m finishing up my Master’s in fashion & textile history in NYC, so I love seeing sites like yours that incorporate a little of that.
I wish that Qui êtes-vous Polly Maggoo was more accessible in the States, it is truly one of the best movie about fashion. A must for fashion fanatics.
