My first foray into vintage clothes was at the tender age of 13 when I tentatively bought a vintage t-shirt at Rokit in Camden Town. I thought I was so effing cool, reading J-17 and seeing the words vintage t-shirt popping up everywhere, thinking I had bought into something very unique. So over the next five years or so, I amassed a sizeable collection of vintage t-shirts, picking them up mindlessly without intent, wearing some to death but leaving others to languish in the back of my drawers. Nowadays, I have of course seen the light and have been coverted to a broader range of vintage clothes. Then I saw this article on vintage styling in a very old issue of Taiwanese magazine minigirl and suddenly got all nostalgic about my old t-shirts that eventually got donated to charity or given away. The styling here is that kind of MK, draggy baggy look which I don’t mind but normally tailor to make it look a little bit more polished but I now have the urge to revisit my youth and just pile on those layers with a pair of battered Converse (what I used to consider the height of style!).
