I look at this picture and I can almost be fooled into thinking it’s part of a present-day fashion editorial. Except it’s not, the year is about 1969, and this picture was taken in Swinging London and goddamit, that sucks because it means that dress is stuck in vintage no man’s land! I love those puff sleeves, the print and even the short short length. This girl miraculously comes off looking girly and playful rather than slutty. I EVEN even love those vertiginous platform mules she’s wearing.
In fact there’s an upcoming exhibition on fashion in Swinging Sixties London at the Victoria & Albert museum and it may cause me too much pain to go since these clothes are all but memories. (Yes, I know there’s vintage but these days, I’m noticing genuine 60’s articles are not to be found, but instead we have a whole load of 80’s toot to sort through).
