Clarks is Cool

I have fallen for an ‘it’ item.  It’s the sandals that every UK fashion magazine is featuring, it’s selling out everywhere, the prices are being hiked up….it’s a pair of Clarks sandals.  Now for those of you that don’t know, Clarks is considered a pretty mundane British shoe store, the type of place your mother used to drag you to, to get shoes for school.  A sensible shoe store, for sensible people.  Clarks also stock Hush Puppies which just about says it all really….

However, of late, they seem to be coming up trumps.  Stores have been redesigned to look ‘trendy’ and they’re designing shoes that become instant hits.  Like the Saskia sandal of 2005 which was being sold on eBay for hundreds of pounds, this year, the Sheena sandal has come to take the top spot once more.  Worst of all, I actually rather like it and desperately want it.  Firstly, it’s flat – no silly kitten heel, secondly you can tie up the delicate chiffon straps anyway you please, thirdly, the colour is beautiful – I’m very into nude for the summer but best of all is the price – £34.99!  Damnit, if I only I didn’t read Grazia magazine last week, I wouldn’t be coveting an ‘it’ item, however at that price, it shall be mine, oh yes, oh yes.

(P.S. The picture on the right makes it look more pinky than it actually is….it’s really more of a nude colour…)

  1. I wondered how long it would be before the newest rush to Clarks happened! I got hold of the last pair of Saskia’s in the country (or so I was told) last year. This time I’ve decided to stay well away. It’s probably a good thing those chiffon straps would look awful on my chubby ankles!
